Hotel Description
First Impressions
The Airport Hotel Filder Post sits quietly in Stuttgart’s Plieningen district, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets the basics right without trying too hard. You know what I mean — sometimes the three-star hotels that don’t oversell themselves end up being the most pleasant surprises. The building has that clean, modern German efficiency about it, and there’s something reassuring about pulling up to a place that looks exactly like what you’d hope for after a long travel day.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Plieningen — it’s actually a smart choice if you’re flying in or out of Stuttgart. You’re close enough to the airport that you won’t stress about early morning flights, but far enough away that you don’t hear planes all night. The area feels properly residential, which I appreciate after being in busy city centers. There’s free private parking right at the hotel, which is honestly a godsend in Germany where parking can cost a fortune. Couples seem to really love this spot (they rate the location 8.2), and I can see why — it’s peaceful but not isolated.
The Room Experience
The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-run three-star property — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully laid out. Nothing fancy, but everything works properly, and the beds are genuinely comfortable. I mean, after dealing with some of those cramped city center hotels, having actual space to move around feels like a small victory. The bathrooms are modern and the Wi-Fi actually works reliably, which matters more than people admit when they’re trying to sort out travel plans or stay in touch with home.
Breakfast & Dining
The breakfast setup here is actually impressive for a three-star place. They’ve got a proper buffet that covers vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options — which is still surprisingly rare at this price point. I watched them restock everything regularly, so you’re not getting those sad, picked-over continental breakfast vibes. The coffee is decent (important!), and there’s enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying multiple nights. It’s the kind of breakfast that sets you up properly for a day of exploring Stuttgart or dealing with airport logistics.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests have been rating the location 8.6, and that high rating makes perfect sense once you experience it yourself. The Airport Hotel Filder Post delivers on the practical stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling — reliable service, good value, and a location that works for real itineraries. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which is refreshing. You get solid comfort, helpful staff, and that particular German attention to detail that makes everything run smoothly. For travelers who want a dependable base without paying city center prices, this place hits the sweet spot.

Traditional hotel close to Messe/Airport – Georg from United States – March 29, 2025 (8/10)
The room was very nice, large, comfortable, and a bit old-school. It was fairly simple to get into and back from the city center using the bus and the U-Bahn. Friendly and helpful reception!
What could be improved: The Wifi only allows you one device per room.Good one night stay, supper nice staff – Paulius from Lithuania – February 12, 2025 (9/10)

Convenient late check-in, parking available, good bed and pillows.
What could be improved: Breakfast 60 euros for four people! Outdated rooms with carpeted flooring. The shower door does not closeGreat hotel for the price. Convenient, very easy access to highways and the airport. – Martin from United States – August 6, 2024 (8/10)
The front desk reception let me check in a little early. There was parking close to the front door. The breakfast buffet was varied and had many good items. A little more fresh fruit would have been great.
What could be improved: A firmer mattress on the bed would be nice. I would have liked washcloths in the bathroom.Nice and friendly place – great time… – Andreas from Austria – July 29, 2024 (9/10)
Very friendly staff. Nice room and bath. 3 Windows can be opened. Nice terrace, good Espresso. We haven't booked with breakfast so i can't tell more about it. 2 busstations and 3 good restaurants can be reached within 1 to 5 minutes of walk. The bus takes 7 minutes to the airport, busstation, underground and fair. From there you need another 25 minutes by underground into the city.
What could be improved: We found nothing to complain!!! A rearly nice weekend at a nice place. The World BBQ Championship was great as well…Comfortable and welcoming stay in great part of Stuttgart – Peter from United Kingdom – June 28, 2024 (9/10)
Great room and lovely hotel. Great part of town. A little far out but no big deal. Worked very well for us.
What could be improved: Nothing
