You know what caught me off guard about the Aparthotel Astro? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street in Wangen – honestly, I almost walked past it the first time because it blends in so naturally with the neighborhood. The whole non-smoking thing isn’t just a gimmick either; the place genuinely feels fresh and clean in that way that makes you want to take deeper breaths when you walk in.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve nailed that sweet spot between hotel service and apartment living. The rooms – well, they’re more like proper apartments actually – have these little kitchenettes that are way more functional than those sad hotel coffee corners you usually get. I mean, you could legitimately cook a decent meal here, which is pretty clutch when you’re staying longer than a few days or just want to avoid another overpriced restaurant dinner. The furnishing feels intentional too, not like someone just ordered everything from the same catalog. There’s this understated modern vibe that works without trying too hard.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Stuttgart like someone who actually lives here rather than just hitting the tourist spots. Wangen has this lovely residential feel – you’ll hear kids playing in the courtyards in the afternoon, see locals heading to the nearby bakery in the morning. The public transport connections are solid (there’s a U-Bahn stop that’ll get you downtown in about fifteen minutes), but you’re far enough out that you won’t deal with the city center noise or crowds when you want to decompress. I loved walking around the neighborhood in the evenings – it’s got that authentic German residential atmosphere without feeling isolated or unsafe.

The staff actually knows the area too, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They pointed me toward this little Turkish place around the corner that I never would have found otherwise, and gave me the real scoop on which S-Bahn routes to avoid during rush hour. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling, no twenty-minute spiel about amenities I’ll never use. The 8.3 rating makes sense when you experience how they handle the basics really well without any unnecessary frills or fake luxury touches that just drive up the price.

  Very accommodating to our needs as we checked in very late.
  
  What could be improved: Could have been even more clear instructions regarding parking. I was a bit stressed but I didn't see how to buy parking permit, I won't blame the hotel but I believe it could be even clearer.

  it is a few minutes walk from the tram station. the room was cozy and clean. we had some issues getting the AC to cool the room but were able to open the window to get some cool air. the breakfast spread was good.
