You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Strohberg 28 – honestly, the name “Apartment 29 im Lehenviertel” sounds pretty bland, right? But this little 3-star gem in Stuttgart-Süd actually surprised me. The building sits quietly in the Lehenviertel neighborhood, which locals will tell you is one of those up-and-coming areas that hasn’t been completely discovered by tourists yet. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to the main action, but far enough out that you’ll actually hear birds in the morning instead of trams clattering by at 6 AM.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a thoughtful friend’s place than a typical hotel room. Everything’s been put together with actual care – not that sterile, cookie-cutter hotel furniture you usually get. The kitchen (yes, there’s a proper kitchen) had everything I needed to make breakfast, and honestly, after a few days of German hotel breakfasts, being able to grab groceries from the little Edeka down the street was kind of perfect. The WiFi actually works throughout the whole space, which seems obvious but you’d be amazed how many places mess that up. Parking was straightforward too – there’s street parking that’s not too brutal to figure out, though I’d recommend asking about the local parking zones when you check in.

What really gets me about this place is the attention to small stuff that matters. The shower has proper water pressure (thank god), the bed doesn’t creak when you move, and there are actual blackout curtains that work. Plus, the location is honestly ideal if you want to experience Stuttgart like someone who lives there rather than just hitting the touristy spots. You’re a quick walk to some really solid local restaurants and cafes that most visitors never find, and getting into the city center is easy but not so easy that you’re dealing with crowds of people dragging suitcases past your window all day. The whole area has this relaxed, residential vibe during the week, though weekends do pick up a bit – nothing crazy, just more life on the streets. That 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works the way it should, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
