Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about the Centro Hotel Sautter? It’s tucked away on Johannesstr in Stuttgart-West, which honestly isn’t where most tourists end up, but that’s exactly why I liked it. The neighborhood has this lived-in feel – actual residents walking their dogs, corner bakeries that aren’t trying to be Instagram-worthy, and you’re still only a 10-minute walk from the main pedestrian zone on Königstraße.

The hotel itself sits in what looks like it used to be an office building, and I mean that in the best way possible. The lobby has these clean lines and lots of natural light, nothing fancy but it feels put-together. Check-in was surprisingly smooth – the staff actually seemed to know the city well enough to give real recommendations, not just the obvious tourist spots. My room was on the third floor facing the street, and while Johannesstraße isn’t exactly a highway, there’s definitely some traffic noise in the mornings. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – good bed, decent shower pressure, and everything worked. The decor leans modern without trying too hard, lots of grays and whites with pops of color that don’t make you feel like you’re sleeping in a corporate conference room.

Here’s the thing though – the location is actually pretty clever once you figure it out. You’re in Stuttgart-West, which locals will tell you is one of the more relaxed parts of the city, but you can walk to the Stadtmitte U-Bahn station in about 8 minutes, and from there you’re connected to everything. There’s a Rewe supermarket literally around the corner if you need snacks or forgot your phone charger, and this little Turkish place two blocks down that does incredible döner (the locals were lined up there every evening around 7). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – Stuttgart-West doesn’t have the bar scene of other neighborhoods, so you can actually sleep with the windows cracked open on warmer nights. The 7.3 rating makes sense to me; it’s not going to wow anyone, but it does exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises, and honestly, that’s worth a lot when you’re traveling.

The location is good. Easily reached by public transport. Nice German breakfast available in sight. Rooms are spacious.

  • Good for a short stay but the bed quality could be an issue if you have back pain – Herve from France – December 8, 2023 (6/10)

    Location close to the transport

What could be improved: The bed too old , the shower too small

  • Very Good – Floortje from Netherlands – September 15, 2023 (8/10)

Nice location if it’s your stopover place. A 15min walk to the citycenter.

  • Bargain for one night – Grégory from France – May 29, 2023 (8/10)

Very well-priced hotel in the centre of Stuttgart. The location is quiet, easy to get to and there are several restaurants in the area. We have stayed in the hotel before and this time we had a renovated room with balcony and bath. We were very satisfied.

What could be improved: For the price, the hotel is quite satisfactory. However, we would appreciate a small kettle, cushions that are a little less bulky and the communal areas are a little dated.

  • A bargain in Stuttgart – Grégory from France – March 26, 2023 (7/10)

Standard hotel relatively close to the city centre in a quiet area but with some restaurants around and a 15 minute walk to the city centre. There is a car park in the hotel for a reasonable price for Stuttgart (10€). The room was relatively spacious and the bathroom renovated.

What could be improved: It is a reasonable hotel for the price. The decoration is a bit dated and some facilities are missing (kettle, glass). The room was opposite the lift and despite a double door, you could hear the lift motor. There were no blackout curtains and therefore all the light in the morning.

  • Good location, comfortable room. – Bill from United States – March 26, 2023 (8/10)

Friendly professional staff, on site parking

  • Very pleasant stay at this nice hotel – Hicham from United Kingdom – January 6, 2023 (8/10)

I had a nice stay at the hotel which is about a 12 min walk from the central activities of Stuttgart. Simple hotel but very clean and my room was nicely decorared. Would recommend it if you are looking for a good priced hotel not far from the city centre. Also the scenery a few blocks from the hotel is very nice and calm.

  • Practical, but no heart or soul – Antje from France – October 23, 2022 (7/10)

    clean rooms, central location

What could be improved: breakfast average, breakfast service slow and evidently not trained, refilling is very slow and random, plan time for having a decent breakfast
