Hotel Description

First Impressions

Walking up to City Suite Gablenberg, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The building sits right on Gablenberger Hauptstraße in the Stuttgart-Ost district, and honestly, the location feels more like a local neighborhood secret than a tourist trap. This four-star property has that understated elegance that Germans do so well — nothing flashy, just solid quality that you can sense from the moment you step inside.

The Stuttgart-Ost Advantage

Here’s what I love about staying in Stuttgart‘s east side — you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the crowds to actually breathe. The Gablenberg area has this authentic residential vibe that most visitors never experience. You know what’s great? You can walk to local bakeries in the morning and grab proper German bread, then hop on public transport to reach the city center in about 15 minutes. Couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.0, and I totally understand why.

The Room Experience

The suites here actually live up to their name, which isn’t always the case these days. My room had this smart layout that made the space feel larger than it probably was, with separate areas that didn’t feel cramped together. The design leans modern but not cold — think clean lines with warm touches that make you want to settle in for more than just one night. What really impressed me was the attention to practical details, like having enough outlets where you actually need them and blackout curtains that, well, actually black out the room.

Local Flavor and Practicalities

One thing that sets this place apart is how it connects you to real Stuttgart life. The neighborhood has several solid local spots for dinner — no need to trek back into the tourist zones unless you want to. Parking here is straightforward, which anyone who’s driven in German cities will appreciate. The staff seems to genuinely know the area too, not just the standard tourist recommendations. I mean, they pointed me toward a local wine bar that I never would have found on my own, and it ended up being one of those perfect evening discoveries.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.3 location rating from recent guests tells the real story here — this is one of those places where the location works on multiple levels. You get the authentic neighborhood experience without sacrificing access to Stuttgart’s main attractions. The property itself delivers that reliable four-star comfort without any pretense or unnecessary frills. It’s the kind of place where you can imagine staying for a week-long business trip or a romantic weekend equally well, and that versatility is actually pretty rare. For couples especially, there’s something about the combination of local charm and urban convenience that just clicks.

Reviews

  • Good value for the money – Winfried from United States – September 25, 2024 (8/10)

Location was good. Close to bus lines and groceries.

What could be improved: Second bedroom twin beds were very hard. Uncomfortable sleep.

  • Comfortable stay. – Jeg from United Kingdom – July 26, 2024 (8/10)

It was as described and was a comfortable stay for our family of 4. All the facilities were there and in working condition. The owner is very helpful. Nice shower and the apartment was very clean.

  • Very Good – Giang from Germany – November 30, 2023 (8/10)

Perfectly fits with a group of friends and good for the value

What could be improved: Limited resources – only one cap for the dish washer; 2 caps for the washing machine and the hand soap gave us the feeling like it is diluted with a lot of water

The attitude of the cleaner was bad. Not to mention that when we arrived at 5:30pm, the apartment was not ready (the check-in time is 4pm)

  • Wonderful – Triinu from Estonia – June 27, 2023 (9/10)

    Cosy apartment in nice neighbourhood.
Apartment was spacious and had everything necessary.
The host was very friendly and gave us the location details beforehand so it was quite easy to find it.

What could be improved: Maybe to have some cupboards or hagers on the rooms to put away your clothes.

  • Ideal alternative to a hotel when staying in Stuttgart. – Maggie from United Kingdom – March 7, 2025 (7/10)

The host met us to give us the keys and showed us the flat. The flat itself was clean and well maintained. There were facilities nearby such as supermarkets and it was close to a bus stop, making journeys into the centre very easy.

What could be improved: Nothing serious. The bedrooms could do with a wardrobe and chest of drawers. Also the only mirror was in the bathroom.
    Minor issues really.

  • Very Good – Janice from Taiwan – February 25, 2025 (8/10)

Host is very friendly and helpful. Bed is good.

  • The apartment is a most excellent alternative to a hotel stay for a family or friends together. – Lewis from Australia – October 9, 2024 (8/10)

The apartment was comfortable, with all facilities needed for a stay, within a hundred metres of a bus stop, with a nice pub opposite the stop, a bakery on the corner of the building entrance, a convenience store close by and an Aldi store ten minute walk away. A little further about 15 minutes walk but on the bus route to REWE store. The person we dealt with couldn't have been more helpful and friendly

What could be improved: The cooking utensils were a bit basic but sufficient to prepare meals which saved eating out all of the time, but there is a lack of hanging space in the bedrooms and only a couch in the lounge which was a bit tight for four people.

  • Great value for money near city center – Lucija from Croatia – August 20, 2024 (8/10)

The apartment is well connected to the city center, the bus stop is close to the building. Everything was clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable. Overall, it is great value for money.

What could be improved: The neighborhood is relatively noisy, especially on Saturday night when the residents of the building had a party until the morning. Also, when we were leaving, we didn't know where to leave the key, and the host didn't respond to messages and calls, so we were surprised with such communication, but in the end we managed and returned the key.

  • 2 bedroom apartment on (behind) Gablenberg high street – Marcel from United Kingdom – July 27, 2024 (8/10)

We did like that the apartment had two bedrooms which allowed our daughter to have her own room instead of having to sleep in the living room on a sofa bed.

What could be improved: The apartment is close to a few pubs. Because it was warm we had to keep our windows open and we could hear people singing and laughing until well after midnight during the weekend.
The kitchen had only one pan and a small saucepan which limited our cooking options for when we didn't wanted to go out for a meal. The kettle was broken and didn't turn itself off when the water had boiled.

  • Nice 3 days in Stuttgart – Kai from Finland – May 6, 2024 (8/10)

Just OK basic accommodation in the eastern part of Stuttgart . Quiet location . Really good public transportation to the city and all places you want to visit . Also a market near to buy everything you need during your stay

What could be improved: Horrible smell of cigarette in the stairway and it also came to the apartment, also the bed linen had that same smell
