Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to City Suites on Gablenberger Hauptstraße, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes these smaller hotels surprise you, and this one actually gets it right in ways that matter.

The location is really what sold me on this place. Stuttgart-Ost isn’t the flashiest district, but it’s got this authentic neighborhood vibe that I actually prefer over staying right in the tourist center. You’re walking distance from some genuinely good local spots – there’s this bakery just down the street that does incredible pretzels (I mean, it’s Stuttgart, so obviously), and the U-Bahn connection is solid if you need to get into the city center quickly. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. No drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM, which… trust me, after staying near the Hauptbahnhof before, this was a blessing.

The rooms themselves are clean and functional – nothing fancy, but they’ve clearly put thought into the details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s enough space to actually open your suitcase without playing Tetris with the furniture. The bathrooms are modern enough, good water pressure, and honestly the wifi works better than some 4-star places I’ve stayed at. One thing that caught me off guard was how helpful the front desk staff were – not just polite, but actually knowledgeable about the area. The woman who checked me in gave me directions to a local restaurant that ended up being one of my favorite meals in Stuttgart, and she knew the exact tram times without having to look anything up.

I stayed here during late spring, and the whole area comes alive with people actually living their lives rather than just passing through. There’s street parking if you’re driving, though it gets competitive during weekday mornings when locals are heading to work. The hotel itself runs pretty smoothly – check-in was quick, housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive, and they’ve got that relaxed efficiency thing down. Is it luxurious? No, definitely not. But for what you’re paying, especially in a city where hotel prices can get pretty ridiculous, City Suites delivers exactly what it promises. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day properly, and don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything important. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

  Sehr, sehr nette Vermieter, extrem um das Wohl der Gäste bemüht. Zwei Schlafzimmer, voll funktionsfähige Küchenzeile, extra Fahrradabstellplatz. Danke für die beiden Cola-Dosen vor der Abfahrt mit den Rädern bei der Hitze 😄

  What could be improved: L'annonce devrait impérativement préciser qu'il s'agit d'un quatrième étage sans ascenseur. Les informations relatives à l'accès à l'appartement n'ont pas été communiquées la veille contrairement à ce qui avait été annoncé. Arrivés sur place, il a fallu téléphoner à la deuxième personne de contact pour apprendre qu'il s'agissait du 4e étage (non indiqué sur les sonnettes) et que les clefs étaient sur la porte de l'appartement, ce qui était exact.
