So I’ve stayed at the DORMERO Hotel Stuttgart a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. First impression? Well, it sits on Plieninger Straße in Möhringen, which isn’t exactly the postcard part of Stuttgart – you’re definitely in a more business-y district here. But you know what, that actually works in your favor because you get solid value without the tourist markup, and the U-Bahn connection at Möhringen station is literally a few minutes’ walk away.

The hotel itself has this clean, modern German efficiency thing going on without feeling sterile. I mean, the rooms are what you’d expect from a 4-star place – nothing that’ll blow your mind, but everything works properly and the beds are actually comfortable (which, let’s be real, is half the battle). The bathroom situation is good too, decent water pressure and they don’t skimp on the towels. One thing I really appreciate is how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re on a fairly busy street. They must have invested in proper windows because I barely hear the traffic. The breakfast spread is pretty solid – typical German hotel fare but done well, with proper coffee and fresh rolls. Sometimes they have this really good local honey that I always end up putting on way too much bread.

Here’s the thing about staying in Möhringen though – you’re about 20 minutes from Stuttgart’s center, but the trade-off is you’re close to some spots that most tourists never see. There’s this excellent Vietnamese place called Pho Saigon just down the road that locals swear by, and if you’re into that sort of thing, the SI-Centrum (Stuttgart’s entertainment complex) is basically next door. Plus, if you’re flying out of Stuttgart Airport, you’ll thank yourself for choosing this location – it’s maybe 15 minutes by car, versus the schlep from downtown. The hotel staff, by the way, are genuinely helpful without being overbearing. I had an issue with the key card once and they sorted it out immediately, no drama. Parking is available on-site too, which saves you from hunting around the neighborhood. Look, is this going to be the most Instagram-worthy hotel you’ve ever stayed at? Probably not. But sometimes you want a place that just works well, where you can get a good night’s sleep, grab a decent breakfast, and get on with whatever brought you to Stuttgart in the first place. The DORMERO delivers on that front.
