You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name – FeWo – Zur Alten Wäscherei – literally means “to the old laundry,” and honestly, that’s exactly what this converted building used to be. There’s something kind of charming about staying in what was once Stuttgart’s neighborhood washhouse, though you’d never guess it from how beautifully they’ve transformed the space. The location on Libanonstraße puts you right in Stuttgart-Ost, which I actually think is one of the city’s best-kept secrets. You’re close enough to walk to the city center (maybe 15-20 minutes if you don’t mind the hills), but you’re also in this residential area where you can grab coffee at actual neighborhood cafes instead of tourist traps.

The apartment itself – and that 9.8 rating makes total sense once you see it – feels like staying at a design-conscious friend’s place rather than a typical rental. The garage situation is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving; anyone who’s tried to park in Stuttgart knows this is basically like finding gold. I mean, the streets around there can get pretty tight, and having your own secure spot means you can actually relax instead of circling blocks looking for parking. The space has this clean, minimalist vibe without feeling cold – there are thoughtful touches everywhere, from the kitchen setup (which actually has everything you need, not just the bare minimum) to the way they’ve arranged the living area. What really impressed me was the attention to sound insulation; Stuttgart-Ost can get a bit lively, especially on weekends when people are heading to the bars around Ostendplatz, but inside it’s surprisingly quiet.

Here’s the thing about staying here versus some hotel in Mitte – you get to experience Stuttgart like someone who actually lives there. The Wilhelmsplatz farmer’s market is just a short walk away on Saturdays (get there early for the best bread), and you’re perfectly positioned to explore both the trendy spots in the east and the more traditional areas toward the center. The hosts clearly know what they’re doing; check-in was smooth, they anticipated questions I hadn’t even thought of yet, and the whole experience felt effortless in that way that only happens when people have really figured out their system. Honestly, at this price point and with the garage included, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay – which, let’s be real, is probably the best endorsement any accommodation can get.

  One of the best accomodations I have ever been and I travel a lot. It is very nice, big, clean, everything is brand new. It has a coffee machine and it even has an Alexa. Also very spacious rooms and a very good mattress.
  It is close to the city center, there are a lot of shops just around the corner.
  The owner is very kind and helpfull with every request. The neighbourhood is very nice.
  It has his own garage and back courtyard.

  Everything was perfect start to finish. Although we didn't get the chance to meet Klaus in person he was reachable via WhatsApp at all times and very kind to answer all our questions. We rented a car for our stay for longer journeys however we only used the bus (number 40 or 42 I think) to reach Stuttgart centre – the bus stop is 2min walk from the property.
