Hotel Description
First Impressions
Walking up to Gemütliche Altbauwohnung in Stuttgart Ostendplatz, you immediately get that “this is going to be good” feeling. The building itself is classic Stuttgart — one of those beautiful old structures that somehow survived the war and still has all its original character intact. I mean, you’re staying in Stuttgart-Ost, which honestly feels more like a neighborhood where locals actually live rather than some touristy bubble. The four-star rating makes perfect sense once you see the place — it’s got that sweet spot between comfort and authenticity that’s surprisingly hard to find.
The Neighborhood Charm
Ostendplatz is actually one of those areas that locals will tell you about if you ask where they’d want to live. You know what I love about this spot? It’s got real cafes where people work on laptops all afternoon, not just tourist traps with overpriced schnitzel. The tram connections from here are honestly fantastic — you can get to Stuttgart‘s city center in about fifteen minutes, but you’re far enough out that you feel like you’re experiencing how people actually live here. There’s a weekly market that happens nearby, and I’ve seen guests from the apartment wandering back with fresh bread and local produce.
Inside Your Space
The apartment itself feels like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place — someone with good taste who’s collected interesting pieces over the years. The room layouts make sense (you know how some places feel like they were designed by someone who’s never actually lived anywhere?), and there’s enough space that you’re not tripping over your suitcase every time you turn around. The kitchen is actually functional, not just decorative, which matters if you want to make coffee the way you like it or store those market finds I mentioned. Everything feels solid and well-maintained, but not sterile.
What Makes It Work
Here’s the thing about this place — it gets the balance right between being comfortable and feeling authentic. The recent guest rating of 8.6 for location isn’t just tourism board marketing speak; it’s because you can actually walk to interesting places without feeling like you need to plan an expedition. I’ve noticed that couples particularly seem to love it here, and I think it’s because the space gives you room to spread out but the neighborhood gives you plenty to explore together. The whole setup just feels… well, gemütlich, which is probably exactly what they were going for with that name.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
What really strikes me about this place is how it solves that classic travel dilemma — you want to experience a city like a local, but you also want your creature comforts. The apartment delivers on both fronts without making a big deal about it. You’re not paying for a fancy lobby you’ll never use, but you’re also not roughing it in some questionable hostel. Plus, Stuttgart-Ost has this energy that’s hard to describe — it’s busy enough to feel alive, but calm enough that you can actually relax. That 8.4 overall rating feels about right; it’s the kind of place that exceeds expectations without overselling itself.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Stuttgart at least two months ahead for major events like auto exhibitions or ballet season, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near attractions.

The location is ok, it's a 30 minute walk to the center (up to the hill), but there is a metro nearby
What could be improved: bedroom door does not lock, lock is broken, no chopping board, not clear how to sort rubbish as far as one rubbish bin.Sehr schöne Wohnung in guter und ruhiger Lage – Dietmar from Germany – April 7, 2025 (9/10)

Zentrale Lage, mit Bus und U Bahn erreichbar – trotzdem ruhig. Gemütliche Altbauwohnung – es ist alles da, was man braucht.
What could be improved: kl. Eimer im Bad wäre praktisch!Επίσκεψη στην MERZ AKADEMIE – Anonymous from Greece – July 18, 2025 (7/10)
Ήταν σε κεντρική τοποθεσία με εύκολη πρόσβαση στα μέσα και σε καταστήματα. Σε ήσυχη γειτονιά.
What could be improved: Μείναμε 5 βράδια και είχε μόνο ένα χαρτί υγείας. Χρειαστήκαμε να αγοράσουμε. Δεν είχε υλικά για καφέ, τσάι, αλλά είχε εξοπλισμό. Τα μαξιλάρια ήταν ακατάλληλα. Από την ντουλάπα έλειπε ένα χερούλι. Στην άλλη ντουλάπα υπήρχε σκουπίδι, το περιτύλιγμα από φαγωμένη σοκολάτα.It’s been an absolute pleasure staying in this flat. Highly recommended. – Carlos from Australia – October 14, 2024 (10/10)
Wonderful – Dorota from Poland – April 22, 2025 (9/10)
Very Good – Brigitte from Germany – December 2, 2024 (8/10)
