Hotel Description

So I’ve stayed at this Hilton Garden Inn a handful of times when I’m in Stuttgart, and honestly? It’s one of those places that just works. You know what I mean – nothing flashy, but they’ve got the basics down solid. The location on Mercedesstraße is actually pretty clever if you think about it. You’re technically in Bad Cannstatt, which sounds fancy but it’s really just this part of Stuttgart that feels more residential and, well, normal.

Here’s the thing about this particular spot – you’re literally a stone’s throw from the Mercedes-Benz Arena (hence the street name, obviously), which is great if you’re catching a VfB Stuttgart match or some concert. But even if you’re not, there’s something nice about being near the Neckar River without dealing with all the tourist chaos you get closer to the city center. The breakfast room has these big windows that actually let in decent light, and I swear the coffee is better than what you’ll find at most chain hotels – though maybe that’s just because Germans take their coffee seriously. Check-in is usually smooth, though I’d avoid arriving during major events at the arena because the lobby gets absolutely packed with people in football scarves.

What I really appreciate is how quiet it gets at night. I mean, you might hear some trams rumbling by (the U11 line is right there, which is actually super convenient for getting into the city), but it’s not like staying near the Hauptbahnhof where you’re dealing with sirens and party crowds until 3 AM. The rooms smell like that generic hotel clean scent – you know the one – but in a good way, not overpowering. And look, it’s a 4-star place with a 7.7 rating, so you’re not expecting miracles, but the beds are comfortable enough and the shower pressure is solid. The fitness center is small but functional, though it gets crowded around 7 AM with business travelers trying to squeeze in a workout before meetings.

One thing that surprised me the first time was how many locals actually use the restaurant for dinner – not just hotel guests. Apparently word got around the neighborhood that the food is decent and reasonably priced. The parking situation is straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in Stuttgart will tell you is not something to take for granted. You’re paying for it, but at least there’s space and you don’t have to circle the block fifteen times looking for a spot. If you’re flying out of Stuttgart Airport, it’s maybe a 20-minute drive depending on traffic, and there’s a direct S-Bahn connection from Bad Cannstatt station if you don’t want to deal with a taxi.

Early hotels booking in Stuttgart requires advance planning during peak exhibition seasons when visitors flock to see the city’s cutting-edge automotive innovations and cultural performances.

Location. Right next to Porsche Arena

What could be improved: Came back after a concert at the Porsche Arena, waited 30 min to order a drink, never did get anything. Left without being served.

    Great location

  • Very Good – Priya from Luxembourg – January 2, 2025 (8/10)

    comfortable bed.
    Clean room.

What could be improved: No free parking for the guests
No coffee machine which is the standard with hotels these days, but just a water kettle to boil water.

  • Phenomenal location if one is going to Oktoberfest in Stuttgart. – Daniel from United States – October 31, 2024 (9/10)

We went for the Octoberfest and the hotel was a 5 minute walk to the fairgrounds, which is why we were here. Didn't see much of the city itself, but for our purposes the location was great. The breakfast was plentiful and had a great selection of both hot and cold food.

What could be improved: The safe wasn't operating.

  • The room was very nice for an overnight stay. The location was perfectly adjacent to the arena. – Wright from United States – October 7, 2024 (8/10)

Check in and check out was very convenient and the staff was friendly, fast and efficient.

  • Wonderful – Omar from United States – August 29, 2024 (9/10)

Very helpful staff, very convenient parking and a great breakfast. The rooms were particularly spacious and comfortable. The hotel is in a less crowded part of town so parking on the street is easy but it also has a very nice garage underneath

What could be improved: The hallway carpeting could be a bit cleaner, they were stains and some odors and some of the hallways

  • Very Good – Ykul from Netherlands – August 27, 2024 (8/10)

We stayed for the Mercedes museum, so it worked well for us, however a bit away from the city center.
Room was nice, and breakfast was rich and of good quality.
