Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Holiday Inn niu Kettle in Vaihingen? It’s actually got personality – which honestly surprised me since I was expecting another cookie-cutter business hotel. The building sits on Kupferstraße in what’s basically Stuttgart’s tech district, and while that might sound boring, it works in your favor. The whole area has this calm, residential vibe that’s a refreshing change from the chaos around Hauptbahnhof.
The lobby has this whole industrial-chic thing going on – think exposed concrete mixed with warm wood accents and these funky light fixtures that look like oversized kitchen utensils (hence the “Kettle” name, I guess). It’s part of IHG’s younger niu brand, so they’re clearly trying to appeal to a different crowd than your typical Holiday Inn guest. The staff at check-in were genuinely friendly – not just polite, but actually seemed to enjoy their jobs, which you don’t always get at chain hotels. My room on the fourth floor was compact but smartly designed, with a really comfortable bed and this surprisingly good shower that had proper water pressure. The windows are well-insulated too, which matters because you’re near the S-Bahn line – though honestly, the trains aren’t that frequent or loud, especially at night.
Here’s the thing about staying in Vaihingen – most tourists skip this area completely, but it’s actually brilliant if you don’t mind a short commute into central Stuttgart. The S1 line gets you to the city center in about 15 minutes, and there’s a station literally five minutes’ walk from the hotel. Plus, you’ve got the university right there, so there are decent restaurants and cafes nearby that don’t charge tourist prices. I particularly liked this little Italian place called Da Vinci just around the corner – nothing fancy, but solid food and the kind of local spot where you’ll hear more German than English. The hotel’s own breakfast was better than expected too, with proper coffee and fresh bread, though it gets pretty busy between 7:30 and 8:30 when all the business travelers are rushing off. If you’re driving, parking is €12 per night in their underground garage, which is steep but pretty standard for Stuttgart – and honestly, having a guaranteed spot is worth it in this city. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me; it’s not luxury by any stretch, but everything works properly, it’s clean, the WiFi is fast, and the whole experience just feels more thoughtful than your average three-star chain hotel.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Stuttgart at least two months ahead for major events like auto exhibitions or ballet season, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near attractions.

What could be improved: NothingRecommended as long as you don't want a kettle! – Rod from United Kingdom – June 25, 2025 (8/10)
The high score I gave for location was based on close proximity to family home not central Stuttgard. The room was clean, comfortable and a good size.
What could be improved: Lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. There was no kettle! As an alternative a coffee machine could have been provided in the common areas, but nothing!Good – Pham from Germany – June 22, 2025 (7/10)
The hotel and room give you what you need, nothing more nothing less
Wonderful – Elyzaveta from Poland – May 25, 2025 (9/10)
We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was clean and cozy, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options to choose from.
What could be improved: However, there were a few downsides. The hotel is located right next to tram tracks, and our room faced them directly, so it was quite noisy during the day — luckily, the trams don’t run at night, so we could still sleep well.
Also, we were surprised to find out that staying with a cat cost €25, even though we stayed just one night. Parking is €20 per night — a bit pricey, but it’s a secure, closed parking area.To be recommended – Peter from Sweden – March 15, 2025 (8/10)
