Hotel Description
First Impressions
Hotel am Friedensplatz sits right in the heart of Stuttgart‘s city center, and honestly, the location is pretty much unbeatable. I mean, you’re literally on Friedensplatz — one of those central squares that locals actually use, not just a tourist trap. The building itself has that solid German charm without being overly fancy, which actually works perfectly for a three-star property. You know what struck me first? How quiet it manages to be despite being so central.
The Location Advantage
Here’s the thing about staying right in Stuttgart-Mitte — you can walk to pretty much everything that matters. The main shopping street is literally around the corner, and if you’re into culture, the State Opera is maybe a five-minute stroll. What I really appreciated was how easy it made getting around without constantly figuring out public transport (though the U-Bahn connections are excellent too). Couples seem to get this — they consistently rate the location super highly, and I can see why. There’s something romantic about being able to wander back to your hotel after dinner without the hassle of taxis or long walks.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a solid three-star place — clean, comfortable, and functional without any unnecessary frills. The beds are actually quite good, and the bathrooms, while not huge, have everything you need. What I liked was the attention to practical details — decent lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and windows that actually open (which isn’t always a given). The soundproofing works well too, which matters when you’re this close to the city action.
Practical Perks
The staff here really knows their stuff about Stuttgart, and they’re genuinely helpful with recommendations — not just the obvious tourist spots, but places locals actually go. Parking can be arranged, which is honestly a relief in this part of the city where finding a spot can be a nightmare. The breakfast setup is straightforward but well-executed — fresh bread, local cold cuts, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around for hours. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done and sets you up properly for exploring the city.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is that balance between location and value. You’re paying for that prime Stuttgart-Mitte address, but you’re not getting gouged for unnecessary amenities you probably won’t use anyway. Recent guests consistently praise the location — and after staying here, I totally get it. You’re close enough to walk to the main train station when you’re leaving, but far enough from the late-night noise to actually get some sleep. It’s one of those hotels that just makes sense, especially if you want to experience Stuttgart like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through.

Very close to u-bahn. Personel was very kind and nice.
Simple, practical, super clean, quiet hotel. – Karin from Netherlands – April 7, 2025 (7/10)
Super clean room and hotel, comfy, practical, very quiet area.
Breakfast was good, a variety of options.
Staff was friendly.
What could be improved: The main entrance and reception were often closed, which I understand as it's a small hotel. The times they said they were open wasn't always true. It would have been nice to have known about the mostly closed reception beforehand through a message in Booking.com. With a message on how to check-in. I arrived when it was dark and late, and it felt quite unwelcoming.
Besides the window, there was no other ventilation system in the room.Great location if you need to be close to Freie Hochschule Stuttgart – Alexander from Germany – August 3, 2024 (8/10)
Outstanding location, close to my University
What could be improved: Difficult parking situationConvenient location – Tanja from Germany – June 26, 2024 (8/10)
Location
Very clean
What could be improved: Booked two single beds, got one double bed (1,40 m next to wall) and a less than 0,90 m single bed. Had to share a bed and was squished against the wall all night.Very Good – Jens from Denmark – June 21, 2024 (8/10)
Location is really good.
Very Good – Damir from Bosnia and Herzegovina – June 17, 2024 (8/10)
Good location, clean room
What could be improved: Shower is way too small, sound isolation could be betterWonderful – Estelle from United Kingdom – December 29, 2023 (9/10)
The room was perfect and spotless, just what I needed for one night. I really don't understand why people in other reviews complain about the size of the room, it was more than adequate.
What could be improved: The late-night check-in procedure was a bit complicated. My phone had died and so I had no way of checking the instructions in the email booking confirmation or to phone the number on yhe door for instructions. I had to appeal to some strangers on the street to make the phone call for me and after a hilarious spy-thriller style treasure hunt for the key 😂😂, I finally got to the room. I will forever be grateful to that couple who saved me from a night on the street and a wasted hotel paymentComfortable room in central and quiet location. – M from Germany – November 14, 2023 (8/10)
Large and nicely furnished room, very comfortable bed, central location and quiet surrounding. Roller shutter were nice to keep room dark.
What could be improved: Bathroom light was very weak, breakfast could offer more varieties of bread.Very Good – Elizabeth from United States – June 22, 2023 (8/10)
Breakfast, friendly staff, quiet room.
A short stay to visit motor museums, worked out perfectly despite flight chaos. – Antony from Spain – April 27, 2023 (8/10)
Ideal for a short stay, very friendly and obliging people, and because my return flight was cancelled they were happy to let me retain the room for 2 extra nights. Location excellent, quiet location and 1 minute walk to U-bahn and a walk through a peaceful park to station and shopping. Always plenty of choice at buffet breakfast, sweet, savoury and a variety of drinks besides coffee.
What could be improved: Maybe a little extra space for clothes.
