Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about Hotel Garni am Olgaeck? It’s tucked into this corner spot on Olgastraße where you can actually feel the pulse of Stuttgart-Mitte without being overwhelmed by it. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Königstraße’s shopping madness, but when you step back into the hotel at night, there’s this surprisingly calm vibe. The building itself has that no-nonsense German efficiency thing going on – it’s not trying to be boutique-fancy, just solid and reliable in a way that honestly grows on you.
The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully basic” – clean lines, decent lighting, and they’ve clearly put money into good mattresses rather than flashy decor. Smart move, honestly, because after walking around Stuttgart all day (and trust me, there’s more hills here than you expect), you just want to sleep well. The windows are properly double-glazed too, which matters because Olgastraße gets some tram traffic during the day. I actually liked hearing the occasional rumble – it reminded me I was in the heart of a real city, not some sterile hotel district. The bathrooms are compact but functional, with that European shower setup where everything gets a little wet, but the water pressure’s solid and it heats up fast.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually live in Stuttgart – they’d give you directions to places like they were sending you to their own neighborhood café, not just rattling off tourist spots. The breakfast room faces the street, and there’s something oddly satisfying about watching the city wake up while you’re working through decent coffee and fresh rolls. It’s not elaborate – typical German breakfast spread – but everything’s quality and they keep it well-stocked even on weekends when half the other hotels seem to phone it in. Location-wise, you’re perfectly positioned for both the cultural stuff (Staatsoper is a pleasant walk) and the practical stuff (there’s a decent supermarket just around the corner on Charlottenplatz). The 7.1 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow you away, but it does everything it promises without any nasty surprises. For a 3-star in Stuttgart-Mitte, that’s actually saying something, because this area can be hit-or-miss with smaller hotels trying to capitalize on the central location.
The luxury concierge service in Stuttgart offers personalized access to private automotive collections, Michelin-starred dining, and VIP cultural experiences in this innovative German city.

Comfortable stay in the centre of Stuttgard – Ghazal from Canada – July 20, 2025 (8/10)
The location is very central. The train station is right in front of the building that makes going to the airport and the train station very easy.
I was upgraded to a double room because there was availability so that was a huge plus and although the unit does not have air-conditioning, there was a fan that you could use.
When the windows are open it’s very loud because you’re right on the main street but when you close the windows, it really helps a lot in reducing the noise.
The place was really clean and I did not see what other people say about the place not being clean.
What could be improved: All good for a short stay.Excellent location, a good option for short stays – Maha from Sweden – April 26, 2025 (7/10)
I stayed one night only. Basic clean small en suite room with balcony, very quiet area and sound proof. All facilities were there, working lift (operating from the first floor), Good wifi signal, great location; it is 1 minute walk to the Olgaeck U bahn station which takes you everywhere in Stuttgart, there are few supermarkets and restaurants in the area, the receptionist was nice and welcoming.
What could be improved: You need to pay attention if you have any health issues taking the stairs, the reception is located in the first floor and you should take the stairs (it was an issue for me with my knee injury and heavy cabin bag) then there is a lift which takes you to other floors. If the reception is closed, you would need to take the stairs to the second floor then take the emergency exit lift!
There were cigaretts remnants in the balcony obviously from the previous guest! This should be cleaned prior to my check in.A Simple, Pleasant Place to Stay – Samuel from United States – March 23, 2025 (8/10)
My room's layout worked well and felt spacious as a solo traveler. The table and chair met my needs for a bit of computer work. The bed was comfortable, and I appreciated the amount of natural light available.
Warm friendly hotel and did the job for reason we was in stuttgart. – Ben from United Kingdom – December 3, 2024 (8/10)
Clean and tidy. Very central location for what we needed friendly and helpful staff.
What could be improved: Rooms were very basic and small but did the job for the trip booked so overall no issues
A noisy guest in room next to us could hear them on phone all night however not hotels faultVery Good – Mary from Germany – June 29, 2024 (8/10)
Clean, friendly staff, easy access
What could be improved: breakfast was not so good, main street so quite loud when windows open, but okay with earplugsIf it wasn’t such a hot weekend my stay would have most likely been close to perfect. Bring a fan with you – Tara from United States – July 2, 2023 (6/10)
The room and staff were great. Room was very clean. Location was good for what I needed
What could be improved: It was in a very noisy location. With the windows closed it was blocked out however because it was so hot I really needed the windows open so I didn’t get much sleep at all. The pillows were also pretty bad. Not really pillows at allHad a good stay and location was perfect. – Koh from Singapore – July 1, 2023 (8/10)
Location was fantastic. Near the points of interest and was within walking distances. The hotel was located next to U train stop which was only a few steps away from the hotel, which made traveling to the airport with ease, it took only 33mins. In addition, I requested for a late check out when I booked the accommodation on the app. The hotel responded quickly and kindly extended my check out for an hour prior my stay. It was reflected in my booking where check out time was 12pm instead of 11am. Appreciated the extension as I had an online meeting happening at the original check out time. Glad that the hotel was flexible.
What could be improved: The internet was an open source and had weak security. It would have been better for hotel guest if the wifi connection was secure.Overall good, but the sound insulation needs to be strengthened. – Xuan from China – June 30, 2023 (7/10)
The room was tidy and of good quality, the breakfast was very good.
What could be improved: It is relatively close to the track, and the sound insulation is not good. The noise is more obvious when sleeping at night.Small clean and good location – Muhammad from Malaysia – January 27, 2023 (6/10)
clean but small. For a day or two worth it!
Sufficiently comfortable – Jenna from Australia – November 27, 2022 (7/10)
Good location, cafes nearby and train station at the door. Comfortable room, quite clean. Nothing fancy but sufficient for needs. I ended up in a room which had a bathroom equipped for disabled access – very good. Staff were very friendly.
What could be improved: Room itself was quite small (not unexpected but as a disabled access room this may have been a challenge). We had a fire alarm in the early hours of one morning (false alarm as far as I know) and there were some issues with getting out from our side of the building, as internal/external doors were locked, which was concerning.
