Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Rega Stuttgart? It’s tucked right into Stuttgart-West on Ludwigstraße, and honestly, that’s both its charm and maybe its slight drawback. I mean, you’re literally in the middle of everything – which is fantastic if you want to walk to the theater district or grab dinner in the trendy Bohnenviertel area, but it also means you’ll hear some street noise, especially on weekend nights. The building itself has this solid, no-nonsense German feel to it, sort of like it’s been watching over this corner of the neighborhood for decades without making a big fuss about it.

What I actually appreciated most was how the staff seemed to genuinely know their city. When I asked about getting to the Mercedes-Benz Museum (because, let’s face it, that’s why half of us end up in Stuttgart), the desk clerk didn’t just hand me a tourist map – she walked me through the U-Bahn connections and mentioned which car to get on so I’d end up closest to the entrance. Little things like that make a difference when you’re trying to navigate a city you don’t know well. The rooms themselves are pretty standard 3-star fare – clean, functional, with that slightly firm European bedding that takes a night to get used to. The Wi-Fi actually works properly, which honestly can’t be taken for granted everywhere. There’s no fancy spa or rooftop bar, but there’s something refreshing about a place that does the basics really well instead of trying to be something it’s not.

The location really grows on you once you start exploring. You’ve got the Staatsoper just a few blocks away, and if you walk down toward Königstraße, you hit the main shopping area pretty quickly. But what I liked even more was discovering the smaller streets around the hotel – there’s this little bakery on the corner that opens ridiculously early and makes these incredible pretzels, and a wine bar two streets over that locals seem to have claimed as their own. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving (this is an older part of the city, so the streets weren’t exactly designed for modern traffic), but the hotel can point you toward a garage that’s not too expensive by Stuttgart standards. Look, it’s not going to win any design awards, and that 7.2 rating probably reflects the fact that it’s more practical than luxurious. But sometimes that’s exactly what you want – a clean, comfortable base in a great neighborhood where the staff knows what they’re doing and you can actually afford to eat dinner out after paying for your room.

Reviews

  • Very Good – Duplantier from United States – March 5, 2024 (8/10)

The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was very good.

What could be improved: Unfortunately the elevator was not functioning and my room was on the 5th floor.

  • Good location and price but dated rooms – Rind from France – October 3, 2023 (6/10)

Good location and value for money. Polite staff. Big rooms. The cancelation policy is flexible.

What could be improved: The carpet had so many grey/black stains everywhere, the kind that can't be cleaned and just needs to be replaced. The cleaning staff did a good job but the carpeted floor and other furniture are quite worn down and need to be renovated.

  • Value for money, good location – Girts from Latvia – August 19, 2023 (8/10)

Good place, very helpful and nice staff

What could be improved: No AC in the room, a little bit worn out

  • As expected from a hotel – Nazma from United Kingdom – August 13, 2023 (8/10)

Clean and spacious hotel rooms. Good bathroom

What could be improved: Location is a bit out from town centre. Tops floor where we had triple rooms didn’t have any lift service.

  • Very Good – Anthony from Australia – April 7, 2023 (8/10)

Good location. Comfy bed. Good breakfast.

What could be improved: A bit unimposing to look at. Looked like a block of flats.

  • Very Good – Djordje from Serbia – February 2, 2023 (8/10)

Breakfast and location are the highlights of the Novum hotel.

What could be improved: Cleanness of the room is good, but the carpet is awful. It was stinky (the whole room has this strange smell coming out from it) and with many stains.
