You know what struck me first about Hotel Royal? It’s tucked away on Sophienstrasse, which honestly feels like one of those Stuttgart streets that locals use as a shortcut but tourists rarely stumble upon by accident. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Schlossplatz, but you’d never guess it from the quiet, tree-lined street. The building itself has that solid German architecture thing going on – nothing flashy, just well-built and confident in a way that makes you think it’ll still be here in another century.

The lobby surprised me, actually. I was expecting something a bit stuffy for a four-star place, but it’s got this warm, lived-in elegance that immediately put me at ease. The staff at check-in knew their stuff too – not just the scripted hotel talk, but genuine recommendations. When I mentioned I was thinking about dinner, the guy behind the desk didn’t just rattle off the usual suspects. He told me about this little Swabian place around the corner where the spätzle is apparently legendary (he was right, by the way). The rooms are what you’d hope for at this level – comfortable beds that actually let you sleep, decent-sized bathrooms, and windows that open properly, which is honestly a bigger deal than it sounds when you’ve been stuck in sealed hotel boxes. The whole place feels like it’s been thoughtfully maintained rather than just renovated for Instagram.

What really sells me on this place is the location, though I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way every hotel claims. I’m talking about being able to walk to the Königstrasse shopping area in about five minutes, but also being close enough to catch the U-Bahn at Schlossplatz when you want to explore beyond the city center. There’s a bakery literally next door that opens early enough to grab proper German bread before your day starts, and if you’re here during the warmer months, you can actually hear the buzz from the outdoor cafés around Karlsplatz – close enough to feel connected to the city’s rhythm, but far enough to get decent sleep. Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of Mitte, but the hotel has a garage situation worked out that beats circling the blocks looking for street spots. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Stuttgart, but it delivers on the things that actually matter when you’re traveling.

  Good size on the rooms, great and beautiful bathroom, good breakfast, great location for a City weekend. Convenient parking options. Would book again, great value for money!
  
  What could be improved: There is not a great view from the room we had, but we were not there for the the view from the hoteltroom either, so not nessesary bad, but i needed to write something. Some of the interior might be a bit dated.

  The hotel is very clean. I recommend it strongly. The location is very close to the poi’s in Stuttgart. Nice staff and good breakfast. Closed parking place is safe for motorcycles.
  
  What could be improved: The lights in auto park was shutting down very quickly and not turn on unless see someone close to the receiver.

  The staff was helpful, rooms clean and (partly) renewed. Breakfast was good (the waiter very polite and efficient).
  
  What could be improved: Due to the location in the city center and the air vents above the window the noise from the street was quite loud throug the night. One of the pillows was too big and the other too small to my needs.

  We had 3 rooms. All comfort rooms, very modern and nice. One room had huge walk in shower, all looked brand new.
  Parking was ok. Breakfast was nice. Hotel bar was good. Not sure why other people complained about the traditional hotel key… I liked it! Better than a key card which erases near magnet! Hotel has 24h reception and you can leave your key with them if it’s too difficult to carry!
  The service we received was good, similar to a Hilton.
  
  What could be improved: AC not working in one room but we didn’t give hotel change to remedy the issue, so I cannot complain in my review!
