Hotel Description

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Spahr on Waiblinger Straße, you immediately get the sense this is a place that knows its audience. It’s a solid three-star property that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — and honestly, that’s refreshing. The building has that classic German hotel charm without any pretense, and the staff greets you with genuine warmth rather than rehearsed pleasantries. You know what struck me most? How quiet it feels despite being right in the heart of Bad Cannstatt. The attention to detail in every corner of the lobby sets the tone for your entire stay.

The Bad Cannstatt Advantage

Here’s something most visitors don’t realize about staying in Bad Cannstatt versus central Stuttgart — you’re actually getting the better deal. This neighborhood has its own personality, with thermal baths nearby and a much more relaxed vibe than the bustling city center. The hotel sits perfectly positioned where you can walk to local cafés and shops, but you’re also just a quick S-Bahn ride into Stuttgart proper. Couples seem to really get this balance, as they’ve rated the location highly. The area offers authentic local experiences that you simply won’t find in the tourist-heavy downtown districts.

Your Room and Comfort

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. Nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve been. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and the windows actually open, a small thing that makes a big difference. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, enough outlets where you need them, and a bathroom that doesn’t feel cramped. These fundamentals matter far more than unnecessary frills.

Breakfast Worth Getting Up For

I’ll be honest, hotel breakfasts can be hit or miss, but Hotel Spahr does theirs right. The continental buffet setup gives you proper choices without overwhelming you — fresh bread, local meats and cheeses, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. They seem to understand that breakfast sets the tone for your whole day, and they take that responsibility seriously. I found myself actually looking forward to it each morning, which says something about their commitment to quality.

Why Guests Love It

What makes this place work is how it handles the fundamentals really well. The parking situation alone saves you headaches — having your own spot at the hotel means you’re not circling blocks looking for a space in Stuttgart. The location keeps getting praised because it genuinely offers the best of both worlds — neighborhood authenticity with city access. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere real rather than just passing through a generic hotel bubble. For the price point, you’re getting honest value and service that feels personal rather than corporate. This is exactly what a three-star hotel should aspire to be.

  • Porsche Museum – Oren from Switzerland – August 6, 2025 (9/10)

    The option of car park.
    Next to the U1 tram
    Fast elevator
    Very nice staff .

What could be improved: Breakfast presentation could use some help.
Just need to make it look a bit nicer.
One hour with a pro should do the job…

We had a mobile Aircon which did the job.
Since it was 24c outside that was fine.
Not sure it would be sufficient in 30+

The hotel was really clean. The facility was top notch. The receptionist was very helpful and sweet. The room was really big, spacious and comfy. The breakfast was another delight. There were good options. Overall it's a great stay. I would stay there again next time

What could be improved: Nothing really. Perhaps just a little too strict with their check in time. I was there a little earlier and they made me wait for half an hour before checking me in. It's not that of a big deal.
