Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Hotel Spahr? It’s one of those places that actually feels like it belongs in its neighborhood. Tucked right on Waiblinger Straße in Bad Cannstatt, it sits comfortably among the local shops and cafes – not trying too hard to be fancy, just solid and welcoming. The building itself has that classic German hotel feel, clean lines and no-nonsense design, but there’s something warm about the way they’ve lit the entrance that makes you feel like you’re checking into someone’s well-kept guesthouse rather than just another chain property.

I mean, Bad Cannstatt isn’t where most tourists end up first, but honestly? That’s kind of the point. You’re about fifteen minutes by S-Bahn from Stuttgart’s main station, which means you get the best of both worlds – easy access to the city center without the tourist crowd noise at night. The staff here actually knows the neighborhood, too. When I asked about getting to the Mercedes-Benz Museum, the desk clerk didn’t just point me toward public transport; she mentioned that the 56 bus runs more frequently in the mornings and gave me a heads up about construction on Mercedesstraße. These are the details that matter when you’re trying to navigate a city efficiently.

The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place – nothing groundbreaking, but everything works properly. The beds are firm (German hotel firm, which means actually supportive), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and the bathrooms are spotless. I appreciated the thick curtains – street-facing rooms can catch some early morning light from Waiblinger Straße, but you can actually sleep in if you want to. There’s this practical attention to detail throughout the place that suggests someone really thought about what travelers need rather than what looks good in photos. The breakfast room gets busy around 8 AM with what seems like a mix of business travelers and longer-term guests, creating this pleasant buzz of conversation in German and English. And here’s something you don’t always get – parking is available and reasonably priced, which anyone who’s tried to find a spot in Stuttgart will appreciate. Look, Hotel Spahr isn’t going to wow you with luxury amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies, but it’s going to give you exactly what you came for: a comfortable base in an authentic part of Stuttgart where everything works as promised.

Reviews

  • Porsche Museum – Oren from Switzerland – August 6, 2025 (9/10)

    The option of car park.
    Next to the U1 tram
    Fast elevator
    Very nice staff .

What could be improved: Breakfast presentation could use some help.
Just need to make it look a bit nicer.
One hour with a pro should do the job…

We had a mobile Aircon which did the job.
Since it was 24c outside that was fine.
Not sure it would be sufficient in 30+

  • Wonderful – Frey from United States – July 7, 2025 (9/10)

The hotel was really clean. The facility was top notch. The receptionist was very helpful and sweet. The room was really big, spacious and comfy. The breakfast was another delight. There were good options. Overall it's a great stay. I would stay there again next time

What could be improved: Nothing really. Perhaps just a little too strict with their check in time. I was there a little earlier and they made me wait for half an hour before checking me in. It's not that of a big deal.
