Hotel Description
First Impressions
You know what caught me off guard about Kulinarium an der Glems? The name actually tells you everything you need to know — this three-star hotel in Stuttgart really does revolve around food, and they’re not shy about it. Walking up to the property on Mahdentalstraße, it feels more like you’re approaching a well-kept gasthaus than your typical business hotel. The building has that solid, unpretentious German charm that makes you think the owners actually care about what they’re doing here.
Location & Getting Around
Honestly, I was skeptical about staying this far out from Stuttgart’s center, but it turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises. The Glems valley location gives you breathing room from the city bustle — couples seem to really get this, rating the spot 8.5 for romantic getaways. What sold me completely was the free private parking, which anyone who’s tried to park in German cities will tell you is worth its weight in gold. You’re still connected to Stuttgart proper, but you get to retreat to something that feels more authentic and less touristy.
The Room Experience
The rooms at Kulinarium an der Glems strike that perfect balance between comfort and character. Nothing flashy or over-designed — just clean, thoughtful spaces that let you actually relax. I mean, you’re not getting five-star frills here, but what you do get feels genuine and well-maintained. The windows frame nice views of the surrounding area, and there’s something refreshing about falling asleep without city noise constantly humming in the background.
Breakfast Worth Waking Up For
This is where the “Kulinarium” part really shows up. Their breakfast spread goes way beyond the usual German hotel fare — we’re talking continental options, proper vegetarian selections, and they actually know how to handle gluten-free requests without making it feel like an afterthought. The buffet setup lets you take your time, and I found myself lingering over coffee longer than usual because the whole atmosphere just encourages you to slow down. It’s the kind of breakfast that makes you understand why Germans take their morning meal so seriously.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests have been rating this place 8.7 for location, and after staying here, I get it completely. Kulinarium an der Glems delivers something that’s getting harder to find — a hotel experience that feels rooted in its place rather than copied from some corporate playbook. The 7.8 overall rating reflects what you’d expect: solid three-star comfort with some genuine personality thrown in. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or concierge services, but you are getting thoughtful hospitality and that rare feeling of staying somewhere that locals would actually recommend to their friends. This property truly stands out as a destination worth considering for your next visit.

Very nice and charming hotel close to Stuttgart – Katarzyna from Belgium – August 2, 2025 (9/10)
We have stayer here on our way to Slovenia. Very clean and family friendly hotel which we enjoyed a lot. Nice restaurant with typical German cuisine!
Very good breakfast!
What could be improved: Would be helpful to have a kettle in the room!Perfect stop over when driving through Germany. Clean, good food and a playground. That’s all I needed. – Desiree from Netherlands – August 1, 2025 (7/10)
The property is conveniently located if you’re coming from the highway. It has a playground which was great for my daughter and a restaurant on the ground floor, so we didn’t have to drive again in the evening to get dinner. Breakfast start as early at 6:30am, which was perfect for us as we had to start driving very early in the morning.
What could be improved: Staff were not very proactive in informing us about the kids menu options and we had to ask if that was available. But it’s just a small detail that can be improved, nothing that made our stay less pleasant.Relaxing – Nienke from Netherlands – July 13, 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: NoneLovely stay – Julia from United Kingdom – October 18, 2024 (9/10)
Very peaceful the rooms were separate to the main house which was good The restaurant was busy and the food was great. The room was perfect for our stay.
Very Good – Elizabeth from Germany – September 28, 2024 (8/10)
The bed was very comfortable, breakfast was excellent.
What could be improved: I could smell the property’s goats in the hallway. The enclosure shares a glass block wall with the hallway, some of the blocks were tilted open, so it smelled like goats in the hallway. The room itself was just fine.Great stop over, amazing staff – Gareth from United Kingdom – September 22, 2024 (8/10)
Location was amazing, we were only passing through so didn’t use all the facilities but the staff were lovely.
We had great evening meal, slept well in a clean and comfortable room.
