Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to List Five on Liststraße, I wasn’t expecting much from the name alone. But this little British guesthouse actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked into Stuttgart-Süd in this quiet residential area that feels more like staying at your well-traveled aunt’s place than a typical hotel, you know? The whole building has this understated charm that grows on you, especially once you realize how perfectly positioned you are.
What really got me was how the owners – and I’m pretty sure they’re actually British expats who’ve been here for years – have managed to blend that cozy English hospitality with German efficiency. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Stuttgart, after all), but they’re thoughtfully put together with proper reading lights and decent coffee facilities. I mean, the bathroom was spotless and the shower had actual water pressure, which honestly can’t be said for every place in this price range. You’ll hear some street noise in the morning since locals use Liststraße as a shortcut, but it dies down completely by evening. Parking’s the usual Stuttgart nightmare, but there’s a public garage about three blocks away that won’t break the bank – just ask at reception and they’ll point you in the right direction.
Here’s the thing though – and this is why I’d actually recommend this place to friends – the location is genuinely fantastic once you figure out the neighborhood. You’re a ten-minute walk from Marienplatz, where you can catch the U-Bahn straight into the city center, but you’re also close enough to wander down to the weekly market on Wilhelmsplatz (Wednesdays and Saturdays, if you’re into that sort of thing). The breakfast isn’t fancy, but it’s proper – good bread, local honey, decent coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around all morning. There’s this little bakery two streets over on Böblinger Straße that locals line up at, and honestly, grabbing pastries there and eating them in the small garden behind the guesthouse became my morning routine. The staff genuinely seems to care about whether you’re having a good stay, which sounds like marketing speak but really isn’t – they remember your name, ask how your day went, that sort of thing. It’s refreshing after staying at those sterile chain places where you’re just another room number.
Best hotels in Stuttgart range from charming boutique properties in the historic city center to elegant modern hotels with stunning views of the surrounding vineyards and Swabian landscape.

Outstanding – Suri from Mongolia – January 25, 2025 (10/10)
Everything. It was the first experience for us to stay in a guesthouse. We felt almost like being at home. The bed, pillow and blanket were comfortable for good sleep. All necessary items were provided in the room. Taking the bus #43, which stop is just 5 minutes walk to get the bus, we were able to reach all nearby metro stations and most shopping places around Rathause. Thank you. We are very satisfied with your service.
