Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the Maritim on Seidenstraße – I mean, it’s right in the thick of Stuttgart-Mitte, and you know how these business district hotels can be. But the moment I walked into that lobby, something felt different. There’s this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, if that makes sense. The staff actually remembered my name by day two (rare these days), and the whole place has this solid, dependable vibe that Germans do so well.
What really won me over was the location – and I don’t mean that in the generic “conveniently located” way everyone says. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Königstraße, which is perfect for shopping or just people-watching with a coffee. The Staatsoper is practically around the corner, and if you’re into that whole cultural scene, you’ll love having the ballet and orchestra so close. I actually found myself walking everywhere instead of dealing with the U-Bahn, which was unexpected for a city trip. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing groundbreaking, but the beds are properly comfortable and the bathrooms are spotless. Pro tip: if you’re a light sleeper, maybe mention it when booking because the street-facing rooms can get a bit noisy during rush hour, though it dies down completely by evening.
The breakfast situation is actually pretty great – they’ve got this spread that goes way beyond the typical continental thing, with proper local breads and some decent coffee (thank god). I spent most mornings there just planning my day and eavesdropping on business meetings in three different languages. The whole hotel attracts this interesting mix of opera-goers, business travelers, and tourists who clearly did their research. You’ll see what I mean about the 8.2 rating – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but everything just works the way it should. The elevators are quick, the WiFi doesn’t cut out during video calls, and honestly, sometimes that’s all you need. If you’re the type who wants to be in the heart of things without paying those luxury hotel prices, this place gets it right.

The easy access, parking place, food, the staff, very polite and helpful
What could be improved: Swimming pool, lots of kids making a mess, parents should educate them better or maybe the hotel could make some different access specially for families
We were no lucky, the sauna was under repair.
