Hotel Description
You know what surprised me about McDreams Hotel Stuttgart-City? It’s actually way better than the name suggests – I mean, “McDreams” sounds like it should be next to a highway McDonald’s, but this place has real character. Located on Presselstraße in Stuttgart-Nord, it sits in this interesting pocket of the city that feels authentically local without being touristy, which honestly makes it more appealing than those cookie-cutter places in the main center.
The first thing that hits you walking in is how they’ve managed to make a 3-star budget hotel feel genuinely welcoming rather than just… functional. The lobby has this modern-meets-industrial vibe that works – exposed brick mixed with clean lines, and the staff actually seem like they want to help rather than just get through their shift. Check-in was smooth (I arrived around 3 PM on a Thursday), and the person at the desk gave me actual useful tips about the neighborhood, like how the little bakery two blocks down opens at 6 AM if I needed an early coffee fix. The rooms are compact but thoughtfully designed – everything has its place, the bed is surprisingly comfortable, and there’s decent soundproofing considering you’re in a city. I could hear some street noise in the early morning, but nothing that would keep you awake.
What really sold me on this place, though, is the location knowledge you get by staying here. Stuttgart-Nord isn’t where most tourists end up, but you’re perfectly positioned to explore the city like someone who actually lives here. You can walk to the main train station in about 15 minutes, or catch public transport right outside – the U-Bahn connections are honestly better than some of the pricier hotels closer to the center. Plus, you’re surrounded by real restaurants where locals eat, not just tourist traps with English menus. There’s this Turkish place around the corner that serves the best döner I had in Germany, and a traditional Swabian restaurant three streets over where they don’t speak much English but the schnitzel is incredible. The hotel sits on a relatively quiet street for parking if you’re driving, though I’d recommend using public transport – Stuttgart traffic can be brutal during rush hour. For a 3-star place with an 8.1 rating, McDreams delivers exactly what it promises: a clean, comfortable base that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, in a neighborhood that gives you an actual taste of how Stuttgart works as a living city rather than just a destination.
Apartments in Stuttgart provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Swabian markets and cook with regional German specialties.

Reviews
Great price and pwrformance duo but have some downsides – Eglė from Lithuania – August 7, 2025 (9/10)
We were able to park car outside in the street with no fee. There is enough space for that.
Hotel is nice and clean. Well optimised towards no contact. I would come back and would recommend for others as great price and quality option
What could be improved: After booking I have received a list of things that you can get for extra fee. It feels super cheap and tacky that you need to rent iron and ironing board in the hotel.1 night stay in Stuttgart – Garreth from Australia – August 2, 2025 (9/10)
The staff were super helpful with the check-in process. The hotel is pretty much brand new, so the room and facilities were up to scratch. The Vietnamese restaurant across the road is a must, highly recommend.
What could be improved: It feels a little isolated being in a business precinct, this would suit some.Great except the shower – Dayquan from United States – July 28, 2025 (8/10)
Location for me is fine. 2 stops from Hauptbahnhof. A.c. was great. Beds were fine.
What could be improved: Only problem was the shower. Would go from comfortable to burning hot to ice cold. You would be enjoying it til you scream from pain from burning water to then being ice cold. This should be looked into. Otherwise everything was fine. Also annoyed by house cleaning knocking 2x on day of checkout. 7am and 9am. Check out is 11am. Leave me alone please.Very Good – John from United Kingdom – July 12, 2025 (8/10)
Clean and functional room just as pictured. Would be happy to use hotel again.
What could be improved: The electronic key is available to load up from 11am but does not fully show on phone until later in the day. This is not a problem but causes confusion if you expecting to see it fully showing on the phone initially. In practice access to hotel room is very straightforward forward. – Location is a little further out from city centre than ideal but ok.Wonderful – Paulo from Netherlands – July 11, 2025 (9/10)
Good and clean.
What could be improved: Could not find the staff.Good hotel in Stutgart with direct links to airport and conference centre – James from France – July 1, 2025 (8/10)
Simple hotel but clean with good shower. Also a good bar. A bit away from restaurants and bars, but these can quickly be reached by tram or scooter. On a direct line to the airport and conference centre.
What could be improved: Online Check in was chaotic
Too far from bars etcGood – Ramy from Egypt – June 30, 2025 (7/10)
What could be improved: No fridge in the room !
Great location and clean with helpful staff, but major issues with the shower temperature and room size. – Ayman from Kuwait – June 27, 2025 (9/10)
Great location near the subway, clean room, and responsive staff.
What could be improved: The shower tap was a major issue — the water temperature kept shifting abruptly from very hot to very cold, making showering quite uncomfortable. Also, the room felt smaller than expected; a bit more space would have made the stay more comfortable.Wonderful – Viorel from Austria – June 26, 2025 (9/10)
Good value for the money, very good location, close to the local transport and not far from the center of the city and from the main trains station
What could be improved: No ventilation at the bathroomGood – Darrell from United Kingdom – June 25, 2025 (7/10)
Clean and well priced
What could be improved: No staff in hotel for any service. Been in similar hotels where they had staff to help out. Was nobody here for information
