Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Mercure Stuttgart Zuffenhausen on Schützenbühlstr, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential part of Zuffenhausen, and honestly, the building itself is pretty standard modern hotel architecture. But you know what? Sometimes those unassuming places surprise you, and this one actually grew on me during my stay.

The thing about staying here is you’re basically in Stuttgart’s automotive heartland – I mean, you’re practically walking distance from the Porsche Museum if that’s your thing. The neighborhood feels genuinely local, not touristy at all, which I actually loved. There’s this authentic German residential vibe with tree-lined streets and you’ll hear more German than English, which honestly made the whole experience feel more real. The staff at check-in were pretty friendly, though they seemed a bit overwhelmed during what must have been a busy conference season – took maybe 10 minutes longer than usual, but nothing dramatic. Parking was straightforward enough, which in Stuttgart is actually saying something.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’re far enough from Stuttgart’s main action that you won’t hear trams rattling by or late-night crowds, but close enough that a quick S-Bahn ride gets you into the city center in maybe 15 minutes. The rooms are… well, they’re solid 3-star territory. Clean, functional, nothing fancy but everything worked properly. The beds were actually pretty comfortable – I’m picky about mattresses and slept well. The bathroom was small but efficient, good water pressure, though the lighting could be better for getting ready in the morning. One thing I noticed is how the hotel really fills up during trade fair season (which seems to be constantly in Stuttgart), so if you’re traveling then, book early because locals definitely know about this place. The breakfast was decent – not amazing, but fresh bread and proper coffee, plus they had some local touches that felt authentic rather than trying too hard. You’re also walking distance to some neighborhood spots that feel genuinely local – there’s this bakery just down the street that locals line up at in the mornings. For the price point and that 7.5 rating, it makes sense. It’s not going to blow you away, but it’s honest, comfortable, and puts you in a part of Stuttgart most tourists never see.

To book a hotel in Stuttgart during major automotive exhibitions, travelers need early planning as this engineering hub draws visitors eager to experience its world-renowned car museums and innovative technology.

Reviews

  • Ideal for our needs – Anne-marie from United Kingdom – August 4, 2025 (9/10)

This hotel was ideal for our needs due to the location being close to the Porsche Museum. (Within walking distance)
The surrounding area is very industrialised but with a mixture of factories and housing units.
The hotel was nice and comfortable and quiet, there was a great pizza place close by and a fantastic (must visit) Argentine Steakhouse, although a small place the food was absolutely mouthwatering!

  • Perfectly fine for an overnight stop but not for a longer stay. – Huw from United Kingdom – August 3, 2025 (6/10)

It’s fine for an overnight stop if visiting the Porsche museum which is a few minutes away. Very good underground car parking.

What could be improved: The reception wasn’t always manned, the bar was closed although the reception staff were selling drinks from a fridge and had no objection to me wandering into the bar and kitchen to help myself to glasses and cutlery for my takeaway!

What could be improved: I didn’t like the low noise which comes from the light near the bed. That makes me dizzy.
