I’ve stayed at quite a few places near Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof, and honestly, Motel One on Kriegsbergstraße surprised me in the best way. You know how train station hotels can be hit or miss? This one’s definitely a hit. Walking up to it, you’d never guess it’s just a 3-star place – the lobby has this sleek, almost boutique feel that makes you do a double-take at your booking confirmation.

The location is actually perfect if you’re using Stuttgart as a base to explore the region. I mean, you’re literally a 3-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof, which sounds like it would be noisy, but the rooms are surprisingly quiet. The street itself – Kriegsbergstraße – runs parallel to the main drag, so you get all the convenience without the constant sirens and late-night drama. What I really appreciated was how easy it made catching early trains to places like Tübingen or heading up to the Black Forest. Plus, if you’re flying out of Stuttgart Airport, the S-Bahn connection is right there.

The rooms themselves are compact but thoughtfully designed – sort of that modern minimalist thing that actually works. The bed was genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the shower had proper water pressure, which you can’t always count on in European city hotels. Staff at check-in were efficient and friendly, though not overly chatty – very German in the best sense. One thing that caught me off guard was how busy it gets during trade fair season – Stuttgart’s got Messe Stuttgart nearby, and apparently this place fills up fast when there’s something big happening. I stayed during a quieter period in late fall, and the whole vibe was relaxed and professional. The breakfast spread was decent too, nothing fancy but solid coffee and fresh bread, which is really all you need before heading out to explore Stuttgart’s surprisingly good food scene or taking that short walk down to the Schlossplatz area. For the price point and that 8.5 rating it’s got, I get it – it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense.

  I only stayed for 2 nights but I appreciated that the hotel is perfectly located near the train station which is a hub also for the transportation means. The area also looked safe at night. The breakfast had various foods (including vegan) and it was very tasty.

  A very well equipped, clean and modern hotel. Rooms are a little on the smaller side but space has been effectively used. We loved the central location, a very easy stroll to the main square with shops and cafes.
  
  What could be improved: No tea and coffee facilitates in room, however there is service downstairs 24/7 so I was able to request hot water and the staff were very accommodating.

  The main level has the reception desk and is otherwise mostly open space with glass walls and lots of comfortable seating areas where we enjoyed having a drink and a light snack when we returned evenings from sightseeing or the theater. Many guests socialized there too before turning in for the night. In the morning this same spaced served as lovely breakfast area. We appreciated that the breakfast menu included some organic items and the body wash and shampoo were organic as well. The rooms were small but modern and clean. The location was unbeatable. We could walk to everything we wanted to see.
