Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to the Novum Hotel Bruy on Unterländer Straße, I wasn’t expecting much. It’s tucked into this industrial part of Zuffenhausen that most tourists never see, and the building itself is pretty straightforward. But you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially if you’re in Stuttgart for work or want to avoid the tourist crowds downtown.

The thing about this place is that it actually gets the basics right, which is more than I can say for some fancier hotels I’ve stayed at. The rooms are clean and surprisingly quiet considering you’re right in the middle of an area that’s buzzing with Mercedes-Benz activity during the day – I mean, you’re literally walking distance from where they build some of the world’s most expensive cars, which is pretty cool when you think about it. The staff seems to know their regulars, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. No pretentious lobby nonsense, just efficient service. I did notice the WiFi was solid throughout the building, which matters more than people admit these days.

Here’s what really sold me on the place though – the location is actually brilliant if you know how to work it. Sure, it’s not in the glossy city center, but you’ve got the S-Bahn practically at your doorstep, and once you figure out the transit system (which honestly takes about ten minutes), you can get anywhere in Stuttgart without dealing with parking headaches downtown. Plus, there’s this little Turkish bakery just down the street that opens ridiculously early and makes these incredible börek that’ll fuel you for the entire day. The neighborhood has this authentic working-class vibe that feels more real than the polished tourist areas – you’ll hear multiple languages on the street and smell actual cooking from apartment windows, not just restaurant exhaust. Is it perfect? Well, the breakfast could use some work, and the elevator makes this slightly concerning humming sound, but for a solid 3-star place that delivers on what it promises without trying to be something it’s not, the Bruy does the job. If you’re the type of traveler who appreciates good value over Instagram-worthy amenities, you’ll probably leave pretty satisfied.

  Although the hotel is not very central, the location is great as it's easily reached by train or metro.
  In the room, you might notice some of the equipment/furniture aging, but it is perfectly functional and clean.
  There was a small mixup with which room I should get, but the staff resolved everything quickly.

  It was spacious, the breakfast was not poor. Beautiful reception, bathroom.
  
  What could be improved: We came by car and there was no free parking, we had to park on the street where there is paid parking. So we had to drive everywhere and come back at a time when parking is free.The whole hotel is such a maze, very bad orientation.
