You know, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to WohnZeit Stuttgart on Gärtnerstrasse – honestly, Hedelfingen isn’t exactly where most tourists end up. But that’s actually part of what makes this place special. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential area that feels authentically Stuttgart, where you’ll hear more German than English and the morning air smells like fresh bread from the local bakery down the street. The hotel itself sits in what looks like a converted apartment building, which sounds less glamorous than it actually is. There’s something refreshing about checking into a place that doesn’t scream “TOURIST HOTEL” from every surface.

The rooms have this modern-meets-cozy thing going on – I mean, the name literally translates to “living time,” and they’ve nailed that whole extended-stay vibe even if you’re just there for a weekend. My room had these huge windows that actually opened (you know how rare that’s becoming?) and looked out over the neighborhood’s red-tiled rooftops. The kitchenette was surprisingly well-equipped – not just a mini-fridge and coffee maker, but actual cooking space if you want to grab groceries from the Rewe that’s about a five-minute walk away. Parking was included, which honestly saved me a headache since Stuttgart’s city center parking is… well, let’s just say expensive. The staff spoke excellent English, but I appreciated that they didn’t automatically switch languages – gave me a chance to practice my terrible German first.

Here’s the thing about staying in Hedelfingen – you’re about twenty minutes by S-Bahn from Stuttgart’s center, but those twenty minutes buy you so much quiet. No drunk tourists stumbling past your window at 2 AM, no constant traffic noise. The S-Bahn station is maybe a ten-minute walk, and once you figure out the connection (S1 line, super straightforward), you can get to Hauptbahnhof or even the airport pretty easily. I actually ended up loving the evening routine of grabbing dinner in the city center, then taking that short train ride back to what felt like my temporary neighborhood. There’s a Turkish restaurant called Anatolia just around the corner that became my go-to – the kind of place where locals chat with the owner and the döner is legitimately perfect. The hotel’s breakfast was solid too, though nothing revolutionary – good coffee, fresh bread, the usual German spread. But honestly, after a few days of exploring Stuttgart’s more touristy areas, coming back to WohnZeit felt like retreating to a friend’s apartment rather than checking into another anonymous hotel room.

  Wonderful roomy apartment with balcony! We were two couples that enjoyed the extra elbow room and extra bathroom. Access to the laundry was a huge bonus, and they even have a dryer! Everything was clean and so comfortable.
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately, the U-bahn was under construction during our visit which made it more difficult to travel outside of Hedelfingen. We did figure out the bike shares and enjoyed biking to the Cannsatter Wasen and Esslingen. If you want to eat in one of the few restaurants in Hedelfingen- make a reservation! As you can tell, we liked everything about the rental!

  We were nestled in a very cozy neighborhood in walking distance of the bus, train, food and restaurants. Lots of space for everyone in the place. The hosts were amazing!!! They bent over backwards to accommodate our needs. Highly recommend this place for anyone, and especially Americans since the hosts speak english. I can't say enough about how comfortable the beds were. Lastly, the location is great. Close to downtown Stuttgart.
  
  What could be improved: There was some unexpected coordinating at the beginning but, again, the hosts were amazing. They showed up and took care of us! They made us feel so welcome. The only complaint is a weak wifi, but we were out so much that it is really not an issue.

  Size of the property was fantastic, had so much space. Easy to find and park. Gave great access to Stuttgart as the tram was only 10 minute walk. Unfortunately the local restaurants and the bakery were closed but found plenty of places within Stuttgart. The ability to use the washing and drying room was a real bonus. Plenty of local supermarkets close by.
  
  What could be improved: Apartment was extremely hot but we went out and bought ourselves a couple of fans.

  Lovely huge apartment with great balcony, good parking, super comfy beds and great kitchen and amenities. We didnt meet host Monika but she was very responsive on messages.

  Our second stay in this very clean, spacious apartment in a convenient location with a friendly and helpful host and all amenities to hand. Great, pricturesque environment with easy and frequent links to the city centre. A perfect place to stay for work or leisure.

  This is an exceptional place, with a lot of room, and all the amenities needed. Was nice to have two bathrooms. The balcony was a plus. Within a 10-minute walk of the train station. Was nice to have a parking space reserved just for us.

  Excellent location, easy parking, very clean and well presented property, quiet and friendly area, convenient for the U-bahn, comfortable and spacious and all the necessary facilities are in the apartment.
  
  What could be improved: Some Kitchen utensils were missing/unsuitable, there was a small odour problem in the bath drain and a specific bin for general rubbish (not just recycled items) would have been appreciated. It would also be nice to have a decent desk for home working.
