Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about Zur Weinsteige? The name literally means “wine path,” and honestly, that’s exactly what this place feels like – a cozy stop along Stuttgart’s wine culture route that somehow got upgraded into a proper 4-star hotel. I mean, you’re right on Hohenheimer Straße, which isn’t the flashiest street in Stuttgart-Mitte, but that’s actually part of its charm.
The building itself has this understated elegance that feels very Stuttgart – not trying too hard, just solid and well-thought-out. When I walked in, there was this subtle wine theme throughout (obviously), but they didn’t go overboard with it like some places do. The lobby smells faintly of wood polish and maybe a hint of something floral, and the check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no upselling nonsense, just friendly efficiency. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re in the middle of the city. The rooms have proper soundproofing, which is honestly a godsend if you’re not used to urban noise.
Location-wise, you’re actually in a sweet spot that most tourists miss. Sure, you’re not right on Königstraße with all the shopping chaos, but you’re close enough to walk there in about ten minutes. More importantly, you’re near some genuinely good wine bars that locals actually frequent – not the touristy ones. The Hohenheimer area has this residential feel during the day, then comes alive in the evenings when people are heading out for dinner. Parking can be a bit tricky on the street, but the hotel staff will point you toward some nearby options that won’t break the bank. I found the whole area pretty walkable, and there’s decent public transport connections if you want to explore beyond the city center.
What sets this place apart – and probably why it maintains that solid 8.2 rating – is the attention to detail without the pretension. The rooms are thoughtfully designed (good lighting for actually reading, outlets where you need them), and the beds are legitimately comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. The breakfast spread is more curated than massive, which I appreciated. They clearly know their local suppliers, and you can taste the difference. The staff seems to genuinely know Stuttgart well, so if you ask for restaurant recommendations, you’ll get actual insights rather than the standard tourist traps. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with personality, not just another efficient but soulless business hotel. Perfect if you want to experience Stuttgart like someone who actually lives there, rather than just passing through.

Miły hotel i restauracja z gwiazdką Michelin. Blisko do stacji S-Bahn do centrum, na lotnisko i na targi. Do centrum też niedaleko pieszo i do tego z górki 😊.
Wonderful – Angela from Hong Kong – October 13, 2024 (9/10)
The room is spacious
Wonderful – Chara from Greece – September 19, 2024 (9/10)
A great hotel, very clean with elegant decoration in a nice neighborhood. The stuff was polite
What could be improved: I didn’t like that in the description in booking says that there is an elevator, but in reality only some rooms have elevator. It should be clarified. Because one of us has difficulty in moving, and if we knew that this room has no elevator, we would have chosen another hotel
It is also written that it is at the center of the city, but you need 20’ walking. This is not a problem, because the way to the center is nice. But it should be clarified tooWonderful place – Patrick from Netherlands – September 16, 2024 (9/10)
Very close to the Exhibition center and the airport. The room was great, the staff super friendly and the breakfast wonderful.
What could be improved: The restaurant isn’t open every dayWonderful – Yacov from Israel – August 21, 2024 (9/10)

A lovely hotel for a Stuttgart visit. – Lisa from United Kingdom – June 17, 2024 (9/10)
Interesting property with good facilities. Comfy pillows and large bed. Excellent covered garage and lovely roof garden to enjoy a warm evening. Friendly staff.
What could be improved: Not in the prettiest part of Stuttgart. Lots of litter and fly tipping on route into the city centre.Very Good – Mohammadreza from Germany – June 11, 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: Noise of outside
