Hotel Description
First Impressions
Walking into City Hotel Stuttgart, you immediately get that feeling of stepping into a well-run neighborhood hotel that actually cares about its guests. The lobby isn’t trying to be flashy — it’s clean, welcoming, and has this understated charm that feels authentically German. I mean, you’re not going to mistake this three-star property for some grand palace, but honestly, that’s part of what makes it work so well. The staff greets you like they’re genuinely happy you’re there, which sets the tone for everything else.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s where City Hotel Stuttgart really shines — the location on Uhlandstr. 18 puts you right in Stuttgart-Mitte, and I can see why couples rate it so highly (8.9 out of 10, actually). You’re walking distance from the main shopping areas along Königstraße, but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with constant street noise. The nearby U-Bahn connections make getting around the city incredibly easy, and there’s something nice about being able to stroll to restaurants and cafes without having to plan your whole evening around transportation. You know what I really appreciated? Being able to walk to the Staatsoper in about ten minutes.
The Room Experience
The rooms at City Hotel Stuttgart are what I’d call thoughtfully practical — they’re not huge, but everything you need is there and it’s all well-maintained. The beds are comfortable (which honestly matters more than fancy decor when you’re actually trying to sleep), and the bathrooms are modern enough without feeling sterile. What struck me was how quiet it gets at night, despite being in the city center. The windows do a good job of keeping the urban sounds at bay, and the rooms have this cozy, lived-in quality that makes you feel settled rather than like you’re camping out in a hotel.
Breakfast & Practical Perks
The breakfast buffet is one of those pleasant surprises — it’s not elaborate, but it covers all the basics and then some. Fresh bread, good coffee, and enough variety that you’re not eating the same thing every morning if you’re staying for several days. I particularly liked that they had local touches mixed in with the standard continental options. The private parking is actually a bigger deal than it might sound — finding parking in Stuttgart-Mitte can be a real headache, so having that sorted takes one worry off your plate completely.
Why Guests Love It
City Hotel Stuttgart works because it gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Stuttgart rather than just passing through in some generic hotel bubble. The combination of that excellent location, reliable comfort, and genuine hospitality creates this sweet spot where you’re getting real value for what you’re paying. Couples especially seem to appreciate how it strikes that balance between being centrally located and actually relaxing — you can explore the city easily but still have a peaceful place to retreat to at the end of the day.

Good. – Douglas from United States – August 8, 2025 (8/10)
Not far from the U tube. Staff very helpful and pleasant. We had an air-conditioner, not all rooms do! We were on the 4th floor and it was exceptionally quiet. They left drinks including beer in the fridge for us. We were referred to a very good German restaurant for dinner. Also given important advice for arrival at the train station in Stuutgart.
What could be improved: The bathroom was tiny. My husband hit his head on the low beam 3 times.Short and sweet – Mark from United Kingdom – July 31, 2025 (8/10)
Very close to city centre
What could be improved: Tiny roomGood for short stay. – Vernice from Singapore – July 28, 2025 (8/10)
Room was spacious for 3 and beds were very comfortable. There is no kettle in the room but there was a mini fridge. Location was great, within 10 mins of the central station and 5 mins away from the market area. Less than 3 mins walk down to a well stocked supermarket (Edeka).
What could be improved: In summer, it was quite warm at night and there was only one standing fan. We tried opening the windows for ventilation but it was quite dusty and not recently cleaned.Wonderful – Rafael from Poland – June 9, 2025 (9/10)
Good but limited and not enough various breakfast. Reasonable price for the available quality
I would recommend it for anyone needing a short stay in Stuttgart – Jeffrey from United States – May 1, 2025 (9/10)
The location was great and the value for the price was tremendous.
What could be improved: N/AGreat hotel – Andrii from Ukraine – April 20, 2025 (9/10)
Location, friendly staff, comfortable room
What could be improved: No warm food on the breakfast like omlet or sausagesI enjoyed our stay, very helpful staff, and great breakfast. The location is very convenient. – Rosanna from Australia – February 15, 2025 (9/10)
The rooms and amenities were clean and beds very comfortable. The Breakfast was also delicious, fresh foods and a great selection to choose from. Highly recommend.
What could be improved: I missed having a kettle and Tea or coffee in the room – I think this would have been appreciated rather than the wine for purchase. We arrived late at night from a long train ride and a hot cup of tea or coffee would have been wonderful to be able to enjoy.Wonderful – Rajesh from India – December 27, 2024 (9/10)
What could be improved: Outside hotel view is not so good but inside its really good
Good enough for the price – Georgia from United Kingdom – December 22, 2024 (7/10)
Clean apartment and spacious. Breakfast was nice and basic
What could be improved: The lift only goes up to the third floor and then you have to walk up a few flights of stairs if you’re staying on the fourth floor. My 60 year old mum struggled with this – the lift should be fixed so that it works all the way to the 4th floor. Music or something in the breakfast room would be good, it’s a small room and everyone is silent it’s really awkwardSpot on for 1 night visit for Xmas markets – Joanna from United Kingdom – December 11, 2024 (8/10)
Location was great and staff were very helpful.
What could be improved: Only criticism was our room was next door to breakfast room so bit of clattering to prepare breakfast began 06:15!
