Hotel Description

First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Spahr on Waiblinger Strasse, you get that immediate sense this is a place that knows its neighborhood well. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top — just a solid three-star hotel that feels genuinely welcoming. The building has this understated charm that fits perfectly with Bad Cannstatt’s residential vibe, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re looking for a comfortable base in Stuttgart.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s what I love about staying in Bad Cannstatt — you’re actually in a real Stuttgart neighborhood, not some touristy bubble. Hotel Spahr sits right in the heart of this district, which locals know as one of the city’s most livable areas. You’ve got the Neckar River just a short walk away, and the famous Cannstatter Wasen (where Oktoberfest’s big brother happens) is practically on your doorstep. The S-Bahn connections into central Stuttgart are frequent and reliable, so you can be in the main city center in about 15 minutes. What really struck me is how couples seem to gravitate toward this area — there’s something romantic about the tree-lined streets and the mix of traditional and modern architecture.

The Hotel Experience

The rooms at Hotel Spahr have that clean, functional German efficiency I’ve come to appreciate. Nothing fancy, but everything works exactly as it should. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are spotless, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase properly. I mean, after a day of walking around Stuttgart’s hills, you just want a place where you can relax without any fuss. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay smooth — they’re the kind of people who remember your name and actually have good local recommendations.

Breakfast & Practical Perks

The breakfast setup here is one of those pleasant surprises that makes your morning routine actually enjoyable. They do both continental and buffet options, so whether you’re a grab-coffee-and-pastry person or someone who needs a proper spread to start the day, you’re covered. The quality is consistently good — fresh bread, local cheeses, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around for hours. Plus, and this is huge if you’re driving, they have private parking right at the hotel. Anyone who’s tried to find parking in Stuttgart will tell you that’s worth its weight in gold.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back to Hotel Spahr is that it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. You’re getting honest value in a neighborhood that feels authentically Stuttgart, with staff who actually know their city and can point you toward the good stuff. The location consistently gets high marks because it strikes that perfect balance — quiet enough to sleep well, but connected enough that you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere. It’s the kind of place where you end up having a better time than you expected, simply because everything just works the way it should.

Hotels near me in Stuttgart deliver easy walks to Schlossplatz, the Mercedes-Benz Museum, and the Stiftskirche.

  • Porsche Museum – Oren from Switzerland – August 6, 2025 (9/10)

    The option of car park.
    Next to the U1 tram
    Fast elevator
    Very nice staff .

What could be improved: Breakfast presentation could use some help.
Just need to make it look a bit nicer.
One hour with a pro should do the job…

We had a mobile Aircon which did the job.
Since it was 24c outside that was fine.
Not sure it would be sufficient in 30+

  • Wonderful – Frey from United States – July 7, 2025 (9/10)

The hotel was really clean. The facility was top notch. The receptionist was very helpful and sweet. The room was really big, spacious and comfy. The breakfast was another delight. There were good options. Overall it's a great stay. I would stay there again next time

What could be improved: Nothing really. Perhaps just a little too strict with their check in time. I was there a little earlier and they made me wait for half an hour before checking me in. It's not that of a big deal.
