Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to City-Hotel Zuffenhausen on Straßburger Straße, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place tucked away in this residential corner of Stuttgart. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots are exactly what you need, and this little apartment hotel totally proved that point.
The thing about Zuffenhausen is that most tourists skip right past it heading to the city center, which is actually kind of perfect if you’re looking for that authentic Stuttgart vibe without the tourist crowds. You’re literally walking distance from the Porsche Museum (I mean, you can practically see it from some windows), and there’s this great bakery just down the street where locals grab their morning pretzels – the kind of place where they remember your order after two days. The apartments themselves are… well, they’re exactly what they promise to be. Clean, functional, with that slightly modern European feel that’s not trying too hard to be fancy. I stayed in one of the larger units and was pleasantly surprised by how much space I had – the kitchenette was actually usable (shocking, I know), and the bed was one of those firm German mattresses that your back secretly loves even if you complain about it the first night. The bathroom had decent water pressure, though the shower door does this weird thing where it doesn’t quite seal properly – not a dealbreaker, just one of those quirky apartment hotel things.
What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night. Stuttgart can be pretty bustling, but this stretch of Straßburger Straße settles down nicely after dinner time. You’ll hear the occasional tram in the distance, but it’s more soothing than disruptive, honestly. Parking was straightforward too – there’s street parking that doesn’t require you to decode some complex German parking sign system, which if you’ve driven in Stuttgart, you’ll appreciate. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful without being overly chatty, and they actually knew good restaurant recommendations beyond the typical tourist traps. They pointed me toward this Turkish place around the corner that locals frequent – absolutely fantastic döner, by the way. The 8.6 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a night or two here. It’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. For the price point and location, especially if you’re someone who values having your own space over hotel amenities you’ll never use, this place hits that sweet spot. Plus, you’re connected to central Stuttgart easily enough when you want to dive into the city proper, but you get to retreat to this quieter neighborhood when you need to recharge.
The luxury concierge service in Stuttgart offers personalized access to private automotive collections, Michelin-starred dining, and VIP cultural experiences in this innovative German city.
