Hotel Description

First Impressions

Walking up to the Evangelische Diakonissenanstalt Stuttgart, you might do a double-take — this four-star hotel has an unexpectedly grand presence on Rosenbergstraße. The building itself tells a story, with its traditional architecture that feels distinctly Stuttgart yet somehow timeless. I’ll be honest, the name might seem intimidating at first (it’s quite a mouthful), but don’t let that put you off. What you’re looking at is actually one of those rare finds where historical significance meets modern hospitality standards, and it works beautifully.

Location & Neighborhood

Stuttgart-West is honestly one of the city’s best-kept secrets, and this hotel sits right in the sweet spot of it all. You’re close enough to walk into the city center when you want the urban buzz, but far enough out to actually get some peace in the evenings. The area has that authentic German neighborhood feel — you know, the kind where locals still greet each other on the street and corner bakeries haven’t been replaced by chain stores. Couples seem to particularly love this location (they’ve rated it 8.1), and I can see why — it’s got that romantic, residential charm that makes you feel like you’re living in Stuttgart rather than just visiting it.

The Room Experience

The rooms strike this nice balance between comfort and character that’s harder to find than you’d think. They’re not trying to be ultra-modern or flashy — instead, you get well-thought-out spaces that actually feel restful. The beds are properly comfortable (which matters more than people admit), and there’s enough space to spread out your things without feeling cramped. What I really appreciated was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, decent storage, and windows that actually open for fresh air when you want it.

Breakfast & Amenities

The breakfast buffet here is the kind that makes you want to get up early rather than rush through it. It’s got all the German staples you’d hope for, plus enough variety to keep things interesting if you’re staying multiple nights. The coffee is actually good — not just hotel-adequate, but genuinely good. Having private parking on site is honestly a godsend in Stuttgart, where finding a spot can turn into an unwanted adventure. It’s one of those amenities that seems small until you need it, and then you’re incredibly grateful it’s there.

Why Guests Love It

Recent guests have been rating the location at 9.1, and after spending time in the area, that makes complete sense. There’s something about this place that just works — maybe it’s the way the staff genuinely seem to care about your stay, or how the hotel manages to feel both professional and welcoming without trying too hard. You’re not getting cookie-cutter hospitality here; you’re getting something more thoughtful and, well, more German in the best possible way. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself planning your next Stuttgart trip before you’ve even checked out.

Reviews

  • Good – Christian from Germany – June 22, 2025 (7/10)

    It's very good value for the money.

    What could be improved: There's a loud church bell every day at 8:25. You will wake up 😄

  • A good memory – Shariat from Switzerland – November 19, 2024 (8/10)

    The breakfast was great. The staff were friendly. There was a spacious kitchen with fridge and other stuff.

  • Peaceful and well-kept accommodation. Easy to find a great location. Safe, economical and comfortable. – Stephen from Australia – May 24, 2024 (9/10)

    The property is part of a re-purposed elderly people’s residence. My room was for a single person, and it was very basic, but perfectly as described in the description. Therefore, it is an honest representation of what you actually get. This is not a hotel, it is a religious community. It is run by sisters from this community so do not expect hotel type accommodation. You will find this very comfortable. There is a communal kitchen near the rooms here. You can cook your food if you wish. The breakfast room is on the ground floor and is a simple breakfast but perfectly fresh and very good for the price range. If you just want a clean, safe and easy to manage stay at an economical price, this is a very good option. There is also tranquil park area in the building’s precinct. You can find a peaceful spot there and relax. Great access to transport. Take a 42 bus straight to the main train station. Really easy to get around and accommodation is in a very safe, tidy area.

    What could be improved: Because the accommodation is not a hotel, the hours of service are business hours. So if you lost a key or did something like that, it would be confusing to be able to get some service after hours, however, I had no issues, and if you are a quiet and well organised traveller, this would not be a problem for you. The rooms themselves do not have kettles, ironing facilities, etc. You need to use the communal shared area for these types of things. It would be nice to have a kettle and little fridge in the room to make yourself a tea privately, however, the shared kitchen is excellent, and very accessible with everything you possibly need. This is not a negative comment. This is just really a suggestion because the description of the room was accurate.

  • Good – Fosam from Luxembourg – December 30, 2024 (8/10)

    The calmness of the facility

    What could be improved: The parking

  • Good – Sergii from Ukraine – July 1, 2024 (7/10)

    – Location;
    – Big room;
    – Friendful staff (can't estimate their English, as we communicated in German, but the latter was a bit of a problem for me, as for B1 holder, who lives in Switzerland – I must admit, that Schwäbisch is not that comfortable for me)

    What could be improved: – A pretty unusual place, sort of a dorm for elderly people, with earliest check-out time I have ever met before (9:00 AM!)

  • Exceptional – Plusbillion from Croatia – July 27, 2025 (10/10)

    Peace

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Exceptional – Sebastian from United States – April 25, 2024 (10/10)

    Value for money is unmatched. This place is pretty nice, super comfortable, close enough to the central train station, includes breakfast, etc.

    What could be improved: Check out is slightly earlier than normal, but no problem for me at least.

  • Very Poor – Fuad from Israel – July 12, 2025 (2/10)

    What could be improved: Closed at 10 pm, hot room without conditions

  • Pleasant – Evgeny from Israel – August 18, 2024 (6/10)

    What could be improved: There was no explanation of how to get the key, when i came nobody was expected me, to get the key is a complicated way for a tourist with luggage

  • bon rapport qualité prix et très calme – Olivier from France – June 5, 2025 (8/10)

    What could be improved: Très important : si on arrive en dehors des heures d'ouverture, il faut aller chercher les clés à l'accueil de la clinique située à 100m : un panneau écrit en anglais et en allemand apposé sur la porte serait plus simple (celui qui est sur place est très mal expliqué et seulement en allemand).
