Hotel Description
Hotel am Feuersee sits right on Johannesstrasse in Stuttgart-West, and honestly, the location is what makes this place. I mean, you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Feuersee lake – which, by the way, most tourists completely miss even though it’s one of those perfect little spots locals actually hang out. The hotel itself is solid 3-star territory, nothing fancy but everything works like it should. You know what I appreciated? The front desk actually knew the neighborhood when I asked about getting to the ballet – turns out there’s this shortcut through the park that saves you about ten minutes walking to the Staatsoper.
The rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d expect from a mid-range German hotel. Clean lines, functional furniture, windows that actually open (thank god, because some of these older buildings can get stuffy). My room faced the street side, and while Johannesstrasse isn’t exactly a highway, you’ll hear the occasional tram rumbling by in the morning – though honestly, it’s kind of a nice sound once you get used to it. The bathroom was recently updated, I think, because the fixtures looked newer than the rest of the place. What really surprised me was how quiet it got at night, even being right in Stuttgart-West. I guess the neighborhood just settles down after dinner, which is refreshing if you’re used to city center hotels where people are stomping around the hallways until 2 AM.
Here’s the thing about this area – you’re in this sweet spot where you can walk to the main shopping district (Königstrasse is maybe 15 minutes on foot), but you’re also surrounded by these great little cafés and wine bars that feel authentically Stuttgart rather than tourist-focused. There’s this bakery literally around the corner on Senefelderstrasse that does these incredible Laugenwecken in the morning, and the hotel staff actually recommended it without me even asking. That’s the kind of local knowledge that makes a difference. Parking can be a bit tricky – there’s street parking but it’s metered during the day, and the hotel doesn’t have its own garage. Though if you’re planning to explore the city center, honestly just use the S-Bahn from Feuersee station, which is practically next door. The 7.6 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow you away with luxury touches, but it delivers on the basics with some genuine Stuttgart character thrown in. For what you pay, especially if you snag one of their midweek rates, it’s actually pretty decent value for this part of the city.

Great location with nice views, not far from the Konigstrasse and the Schlossplatz. Cozy bed. Simple but good breakfasts.
What could be improved: Tiny restroom, and no fridge in the room.A conveniently located small hotel – Dima from Israel – April 26, 2025 (8/10)
Nice and small hotel close to the city center. Located in from of a small lake (more of a pond) with a church – rather unique view. Clean, well maintained, but old building. The room was large enough (for 4 people) and comfortable. They have a basic breakfast.
What could be improved: The bells on the church in from of the hotel ring every 15 minutes. While unique, might be rather annoying. The large room is on the last (fifth) floor, and the elevator goes only up to 4-th (didn't bother us). The breakfast is very basic – we preferred to eat outside.Very Good – Dilara from United Kingdom – April 24, 2025 (8/10)
Simple, neat, clean-cut. The interiors are warm in a welcoming way. The neighbouring 'Feuersee' pond is beautiful, and the gothic revival church on the pond is the cherry-on-top.
I fell asleep to the neighbour's snoring sounds and woke up to the church bells. I loved it. Not for everyone – maybe.Very Good – Kasidis from Thailand – April 20, 2025 (8/10)
Superb location. Reception is supportive and friendly.
What could be improved: On the top floor, Wifi signal is very weak, couldn’t for 2 days to stay at the hotel.Wonderful – Voni from Canada – November 11, 2024 (9/10)
An excellent breakfast was available every day with plenty of variety and good quality food. Friendly staff

Very good, but some gluten free bread options would be greatly appreciated.
Very Good – Ekaterina from Poland – August 5, 2024 (8/10)
the location is good, very pretty view out the window although the church was under renovation. small comfortable free parking worked just perfect for us. the room was perfect with open window
What could be improved: would use an aircon on hot days. i didnt really unserstand why they couldnt pack 3 of us in that room where we had 3 absolutely enough big beds for each of us. i understand they need to sell more rooms but… ehh whatever… maybe fridge inside the room could help, and a bottle of water too.Beautiful and quiet place – Katren from Australia – June 27, 2024 (9/10)
Perfect location close to the S Bahn or 15-20 minute walk to Schlossplatz. Very quiet place at night, and the rooms have a beautiful view of the church and park across the road. Windows in the room can be opened fully to quickly cool the room on a summer evening. Good selection of German style breakfast.
What could be improved: Note that the church bells ring for 3 minutes straight at 7am. Fine if you don't want to sleep in!
