Hotel Description
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel am Wilhelmsplatz, you immediately get the sense that this three-star property knows exactly what it’s doing. The building sits right on one of Stuttgart’s most charming squares — honestly, the location alone makes this place worth considering. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which I actually appreciate. The facade has that classic European hotel feel without being stuffy, and you can tell from the moment you step inside that they’ve put thought into making guests comfortable rather than just impressed.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s the thing about Stuttgart-Mitte — you’re basically in the heart of everything that matters. Hotel am Wilhelmsplatz sits on Wilhelmsplatz itself, which means you’re a short walk from the main shopping streets and cultural sites. I mean, couples consistently rate this location 9.0 out of 10, and that’s not by accident. You can easily explore the city center on foot, grab dinner at local restaurants, or catch public transport to anywhere else you need to go. The square has this lovely, lived-in feel that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere locals actually care about, not just a tourist zone.
The Rooms
The accommodations are exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star hotel — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. Nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which honestly matters more than marble bathrooms when you’re trying to get a good night’s sleep. The rooms have that European efficiency thing going on where every square meter serves a purpose. You’ll find decent storage space, reliable wifi, and windows that actually open (something I always appreciate). The beds are comfortable enough that you won’t spend your vacation complaining about your back.
Breakfast Experience
The buffet breakfast here is one of those pleasant surprises that sets the tone for your entire day. It’s not elaborate, but they’ve got all the essentials covered — fresh bread, local cheeses, decent coffee, and usually some warm options. You know what I like about it? They seem to understand that travelers want variety without overwhelming choices at 8 AM. The breakfast room has good natural light, and there’s usually space to sit and actually plan your day rather than rushing through the meal.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests have rated the location 8.7 out of 10, and after spending time here, that makes complete sense. Hotel am Wilhelmsplatz delivers on the fundamentals — a great central location, reliable service, and rooms that feel like a proper home base for exploring Stuttgart. It’s particularly popular with couples, probably because the setting feels romantic without being overly precious about it. You’re paying for location and competence here, not bells and whistles, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want from a city break.

Old like 30 yearsFair walk from train station, but has all basic facilities and is clean. – Sven from United Kingdom – June 22, 2024 (8/10)
Most facilities there – bed, tv, shower, toilet, sink, chair. Quiet for sleeping. The female staff both pleasant and efficient. Nice phrase on the wall. Green coloured walls. Bar area downstairs, which I'm sure would be fine for some (I was in a hurry though this time, so didn't use it). Two bottles of mineral water were tasty and a nice touch.
What could be improved: Location it's biggest drawback. Maybe 25 minutes walk from train station. Also closeby to some seedy establishments and a scruffy area (though the hotel is absolutely fine itself).Very Good – Bas from Netherlands – February 3, 2024 (8/10)
Kind staff, great location, remarkably quiet environment, given the central location
good choice – Pam from Australia – May 30, 2023 (8/10)
very comfortable room in a very pleasant hotel. the position worked very well for us
Hotel in city center – Alejandro from Germany – October 22, 2022 (8/10)
It was in the center, for a low price
What could be improved: They just took my bag without notice, they tried charging my card without telling me. I said I would pay there, but instead I was charged without me knowing. That’s not right! Reception it’s supposed to be open enough time, for people to make their arrangements and payments
