Hotel Description
Honestly, Hotel Berg caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. When you first pull up on Karl-Schurz-Strasse, it’s this unassuming building that sort of blends into the residential vibe of Stuttgart-Ost, but step inside and there’s something immediately welcoming about the place. The lobby has that lived-in comfort that three-star hotels do best when they actually care – not trying to be fancy, just genuinely comfortable.
What I love about this location is that you’re actually in a neighborhood where Stuttgarters live and work, not some tourist bubble. There’s a fantastic little bakery just around the corner on Gablenberger Hauptstraße that locals queue up at every morning (trust me, get there before 8 AM), and you can walk to the Gablenberg district in about ten minutes where you’ll find some seriously good Swabian restaurants that most visitors never discover. The tram connections are solid too – you can hop on the U1 or U2 and be in the city center in maybe fifteen minutes, though honestly, I found myself enjoying the walk through the tree-lined streets more often than not.
The rooms themselves are what you’d expect for a solid 3-star – clean, functional, with that particular German attention to practical details. The beds are firm (which took me a night to adjust to, but then I slept like a rock), and the bathrooms are compact but well-designed. You know what impressed me most? The soundproofing is actually decent, which matters because Karl-Schurz-Strasse can get a bit busy during morning rush hour. The staff speaks excellent English, and they genuinely seem to know the area well – I got better restaurant recommendations from the front desk than I did from most guidebooks. There’s parking available, which in Stuttgart is honestly a blessing, though you might want to book it in advance during trade fair seasons when the whole city gets packed. The 7.4 rating feels about right to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type who wants to experience Stuttgart like someone who lives here rather than just hitting the major tourist spots, Hotel Berg gives you that perfect base in a real neighborhood.

Is a nice-cozy hotel. Not central but very close to themetro station which makes easier the arrival. The room was extremely clean and confortable. On theother side of the street there is a bakery where you can have an expresso or eat something
the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
I arrive late and the process to get the key was very easy.
The communication was one of the best ever
What could be improved: The room for breakfast should be a bit bigger.Very Good – Ágnes from Hungary – October 18, 2022 (8/10)
Clean and tidy. Hotel crew was super kind and helpful.
What could be improved: Heating was not on, we were freezing during the night.Decent hotel for a short stay – Srushti from Germany – October 7, 2024 (6/10)
The room was okay and clean, check-in system even after reception hours was easy.
What could be improved: Room was much smaller than I had expected, and felt very stuffy. The street outside was pretty loud, people talking loudly, or cars driving by playing loud music in the middle of the night.Good – Yuanyu from Taiwan – June 12, 2024 (7/10)
What could be improved: no evalator, bed is too soft to sleep
Nice – Bjarte from Norway – November 6, 2023 (7/10)
The smallest hotelroom ever, but excellent designed it made it roomier and more efficient than rooms called upgrades in other hotels.
What could be improved: Lights in front of the door when arriving. Had to use phone light to see the instructions.Very Good – Frederick from Hong Kong – November 3, 2023 (8/10)
good value for the money, staff very helpful
What could be improved: location off centerGood – A from United States – October 2, 2023 (7/10)
The location was close enough to the festival where we could walk to it and that the main reason why we stayed there. Didn't eat the breakfast but it looked ok
What could be improved: A couple of more towels for the bathroom, but other than that it was fine for what I needed it to bePractical, clean and quiet. – Lutz from Germany – September 13, 2023 (8/10)
I had a one person room. It was small but absolutely acceptable and clean. I arrived late but the access had been provided for. Very easy. I had come by motorcycle and could easily park it on the street below my window.
What could be improved: Nothing to complain.
