Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Krehl’s Linde on Obere Waiblingerstraße, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place tucked into Bad Cannstatt. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones that catch you completely off guard.

The thing about this spot is that it’s genuinely local in a way that most hotels try to fake. I mean, Bad Cannstatt isn’t where tourists usually end up – it’s where actual Stuttgarters live and work, and Krehl’s Linde feels like it belongs here. The building has this old-school German charm (you can tell it’s been around), but inside they’ve done just enough updating to make everything comfortable without losing that authentic feel. The restaurant downstairs – and this is key – actually draws locals, not just hotel guests grabbing a quick breakfast. You’ll hear proper Swabian dialect at the next table over, which honestly made the whole experience feel more real than staying in some sterile chain hotel in the city center.

What really won me over was the attention to details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully laid out – like, whoever designed them clearly understood that you need somewhere to put your suitcase that isn’t the bed or the floor. The windows are properly soundproofed too, which you’ll appreciate since you’re right on a main street (though it’s not crazy busy, especially at night). Parking was straightforward, which if you’ve ever tried to navigate Stuttgart with a rental car, you know is basically a minor miracle. The staff – and I swear this isn’t travel writer BS – genuinely seemed to care about helping rather than just checking boxes. When I asked about getting to the Mercedes-Benz Museum, the guy at the front desk actually drew me a little map showing the walking route through the park instead of just saying “take the S-Bahn.”

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t a place for Instagram influencers looking for infinity pools and champagne breakfasts. It’s for people who want to stay somewhere that feels connected to the actual city. Bad Cannstatt has this laid-back vibe that’s completely different from downtown Stuttgart’s business district energy, and you’re close enough to everything (the Wilhelma zoo is literally a 10-minute walk) but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds every time you step outside. The restaurant serves proper regional food – not the sanitized version you get in hotel chains, but the real stuff that locals actually eat. And honestly, for the price point and that 8.4 rating, it makes complete sense. You’re getting solid comfort, genuine local character, and a base that lets you experience Stuttgart like someone who actually lives here rather than just passing through.

    Very nice!

What could be improved: We where able to bring our dog.

  • Would go there again of I do not find better. – Birgit from Saint Barts – June 13, 2025 (7/10)

Old Fashioned but clean. Overpriced. Stuff is friendly and helpful but not joyful. Breakfast is not my thing, with Smarties, Gummis Bears and Chocolate fille cookies from the Supermarket.
Super unhealthy, but can find breaks, cheese, saussage, eggs, muesli and yoghurt. Quality ok.

  • Good – Frank from Ireland – June 5, 2025 (7/10)

    Very nice staff

What could be improved: Seriously overpriced, very dated and wifi didn’t work in the room at all, had to sit on stairs or reception for any signal

  • It was just ok. – Muhammad from Germany – April 22, 2025 (8/10)

Staff at reception was really good but not the other workers specially the guy serving breakfast. He was very rude and d unprofessional.

What could be improved: The bed wasn’t that comfortable. And heating was not proper in the room.

  • Cosy restaurant & hotel – Elsa from Bulgaria – February 14, 2025 (9/10)

Located close to both ubahn and street cars for ease of transportation. Nice variety for breakfast. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

What could be improved: At times smell of cigarettes was noticed in our room.

  • Good – Miroslav from United Kingdom – August 26, 2024 (7/10)

Website states that hotel is with parking. Got there and there was no hotel parking. Had to park on the street.

  • Good location not far from center and local (Bad Cannstatt) center – Kuzmin from Russia – August 22, 2024 (7/10)

Location and the facility itself was great together with personnel and breakfast included

  • The hotel is in an excellent location close to the S-Bahn station, which has great links into the city and airport. The – Adams from United Kingdom – June 28, 2024 (9/10)

Lovely staff, excellent location and a fantastic breakfast!

What could be improved: We were put in the ‘Cinderella room’, which had a small single bed and a double. I booked for 3 adults and we weee 3 friends staying in Germany for the football. We didn’t ask to move as we were only there for 2 nights.

  • Great hotel with comfortable amenities, limited parking options. – Sara from Germany – June 13, 2024 (8/10)

Love that it’s not a franchise hotel. Great hospitality and love the traditional vibes. There is a restaurant on location that is excellent and cute courtyard to enjoy when weather is nice!

What could be improved: The location is a bit of a challenge for parking. Fees can be on the higher end at the parking garage next to the hotel (not a part of the hotel). There is a bus station near the hotel that would be ideal but you still have to pay parking fees and then a bus pass if you leave your vehicle to travel by bus.
