Hotel Description

First Impressions

Walking into ROSS Hotel, you immediately notice how they’ve managed to create something genuinely welcoming without trying too hard. The lobby has this understated elegance — not flashy, but thoughtfully designed with clean lines and warm lighting that actually makes you want to linger. It’s the kind of three-star property that punches above its weight, honestly. The staff greet you like they’re genuinely happy you’re there, which sounds small but makes all the difference when you’re tired from traveling.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s the thing about Plieningen — it’s not downtown Stuttgart, but that’s actually part of its charm. You’re in this quieter residential area that feels authentically German, away from the tourist crowds but still perfectly connected to everything you want to see. The public transport links are solid (this is Germany, after all), and you can reach Stuttgart’s city center in about 20 minutes. What I really appreciated was having actual neighborhoods to explore nearby, with local cafes and shops where you’re not just another tourist with a camera.

The Rooms

The rooms at ROSS Hotel are what I’d call thoughtfully compact — they’ve maximized every inch without making you feel cramped. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern with good water pressure, which honestly matters more than people admit. You’ll find plenty of outlets for your devices (thank you, practical German design), and the windows actually open, giving you that fresh air you can’t get in many chain hotels. The decor is contemporary but not cold — sort of like staying in a well-designed apartment rather than a generic hotel room.

Practical Perks

What really won me over were the little things that show someone’s actually thinking about what travelers need. The WiFi works everywhere — and I mean actually works, not that barely-there connection you sometimes get. There’s good coffee available throughout the day, and the breakfast setup, while simple, covers all the basics with some local touches that remind you where you are. The hotel also has this relaxed vibe where you can come and go as you please without feeling like you’re being watched or judged.

Why Guests Love It

I can see why couples rate this place so highly — there’s something inherently romantic about discovering a neighborhood gem together, and ROSS Hotel gives you that local experience without sacrificing comfort. You’re not paying for unnecessary frills, but you’re getting genuine quality and a location that lets you experience Stuttgart like someone who actually lives there. It’s the kind of place where you end up having better conversations with fellow travelers because everyone’s chosen to stay somewhere a bit more authentic. For the price point, you’re getting way more character and thoughtful service than you’d find at the big chain alternatives.

Reviews

  • Old fashioned but comfortable and clean – Ruben from Netherlands – December 2, 2024 (9/10)

The bed and showers were very comfortable. Really felt comfortable. Also clean beds and showers.

What could be improved: The interior like, cupboards, cabinets, the tv, etc. felt a little outdated when it came to looks. Could use a small make-over to the looks of the room. But overall not bad.

  • Lovely over night stay – Schneider from Netherlands – September 18, 2024 (7/10)

It was a giant room that looked very nice and luxurious. Our son had a really nice wooden crib.
The room has beautiful furniture and the bathroom was also very nice.

What could be improved: There were a lot of spiderwebs

  • Great hotel near Stuttgart Airport – Judith from Israel – April 19, 2024 (8/10)

    Apr 2024
We found this lovely hotel close to the Stuttgart airport for two nights.
In spite of the proximity to the airport, there was no noise from the planes. It's a quick 15 minute drive to Stuttgart city center. The room was large and very clean with modern furnishings. The bed was very comfortable. We did not have breakfast at the hotel. There is plenty of parking on the street parallel to the hotel. You can find restaurants and cafes in the neighborhood but not walking distance from the hotel. It you have a car, this hotel is a great option.

What could be improved: Nothing to complain about

  • Very Good – Dennis from United Kingdom – February 24, 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: The rooms need updating

  • Very Good – Anna from Belgium – August 9, 2023 (8/10)

Beautiful rooms, very comfortable beds, duvets and pillows.

What could be improved: The breakfast is not as rich as we would like, there were no croissants.

  • Very Good – Yehia from Egypt – August 4, 2023 (8/10)

Hotel and Room were clean and comfy as well as the room was very big

What could be improved: Housekeeping comes very early to clean the room 😊 and then you will not find anyone in the hotel as its help yourself in everything

  • Wonderful – Anthony from Serbia – June 21, 2023 (9/10)

very comfortable bed, clean room, silent environment

What could be improved: all was very good
