You know what? The Römerhof isn’t going to win any design awards, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about this place that I actually really appreciated. It’s tucked away on Robert-Leicht-Strasse in Vaihingen – and honestly, if you’re not familiar with Stuttgart, Vaihingen is one of those districts that feels more like where actual people live rather than where tourists typically end up. Which, depending on what you’re after, could be exactly what you want.

The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense German hotel vibe – think clean lines and functional everything. My room was… well, it did what it needed to do. The bed was properly firm (as you’d expect), and I slept well despite being a bit worried about street noise at first. Turns out Robert-Leicht-Strasse isn’t nearly as busy as some of the main drags closer to the city center, so nights were actually pretty quiet. The bathroom was small but spotless, with one of those rainfall showerheads that worked better than I expected. What I really appreciated was the little things – good reading lights, enough outlets near the bed, and curtains that actually blocked out light. You’d be surprised how many places mess up these basics.

The staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions, and check-in was smooth even though my German is pretty terrible. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve ever tried to park anywhere in Stuttgart proper, you’ll know is not something to take for granted. From here, you’re maybe a 15-minute S-Bahn ride to the Hauptbahnhof, and the Vaihingen station is close enough that you don’t need to think twice about getting around. I mean, it’s not like staying right in the Altstadt, but the trade-off is you’re paying reasonable prices and sleeping in a neighborhood where you might actually grab dinner at a place locals go to rather than some tourist trap. There’s a decent bakery just down the street that does proper pretzels, and I stumbled across a little Turkish place around the corner that was honestly better than anything I ate in the city center. The hotel itself feels like it caters more to business travelers and people who know Stuttgart well enough to appreciate being slightly outside the chaos – which worked perfectly for me since I was visiting friends rather than doing the typical tourist circuit.

  Location , quiet, parking, clean.
  Nice for a night to stay – we had a party quiet near. Good communication through booking.com emails / messages about keys- codes. There is no 24 hour reception but set times

  The breakfast offered a wide variety of options, the restaurant served high-quality meat dishes, and the staff was exceptionally polite and professional. Additionally, the location was very convenient for my work purposes.

  Breakfast was with omelette (this is what I always expect from the good hotels), also muesli and yogurt, you can take everything by small pieces, but all in all it is an absolutely full hearty breakfast.
  
  What could be improved: the cheapest room for 1 person is next to the fire door and the back entrance, so the slamming of the door was quite loud. But at night there were not much movements, so it is ok. Probably another door closer could be more quiet.
