Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Wyndham Stuttgart Airport Messe – it’s one of those places that actually gets the whole “airport hotel” thing right, which honestly isn’t as common as you’d think. The location on Flughafenstraße might sound sterile, but you’re literally a three-minute shuttle ride from the terminals, and here’s the thing most people don’t realize: you can walk to the Stuttgart Trade Fair (Messe) in about eight minutes if you cut through the parking area. I mean, that’s pretty clutch if you’re in town for business.

The first thing that hits you when you walk into the lobby is how quiet it is, considering you’re practically on the runway. They’ve done something clever with the soundproofing because honestly, you barely hear the planes unless you’re really listening for them. The rooms are what I’d call “German efficient” – everything works exactly as it should, the beds are actually comfortable (not those rock-hard European mattresses you sometimes get), and the blackout curtains are legit blackout curtains. You know what I appreciated? The shower pressure is fantastic, and after dealing with sad trickles at other hotels, that matters more than you think. The WiFi doesn’t drop every five minutes either, which – let’s be real – is basically a miracle for hotel internet.

What really surprised me was the breakfast situation. It’s not just the standard continental spread with stale pastries. They’ve got local breads from a Stuttgart bakery, proper German cold cuts, and the coffee doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting there since yesterday. The restaurant staff actually knows the menu too, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how rare that is. If you’re driving, parking is included and it’s covered, so you don’t have to worry about your rental car getting dinged by hail (Stuttgart gets some wild weather). The front desk folks speak excellent English, though they seem genuinely happy when you attempt a little German – even my butchered “Guten Morgen” got smiles. One small thing that bugged me: the air conditioning can be a bit loud at night, but honestly, after a long travel day, I slept right through it. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury resort, but it nails what it’s supposed to do. If you need a solid base near the airport or Messe without feeling like you’re sleeping in a sterile box, this place delivers.

  I only stayed at the hotel for a total of 12 hours, between connections. However, because I not too long ago had Knee replacement surgery I arrived at the hotel in a wheelchair, and the gentleman at the reception was nice enough to switch me to a handicap room. Amazing!!! Also, the waitress who served me for dinner at the restaurant on premises was a great breath of fresh air, with a smile that lit up the room.

  What could be improved: Bathroom is really tight for two people. Tub is really high and shorter persons must be careful getting in and out. No AC when temps outside are below 20 degrees C so you must open the window and desk either noise.

  Welcoming of the reception was very good. They helped me since the room was available for early check-in. At check-out, they helped me leave my luggage until the flight time. The breakfast was varied, very sufficient and delicious. I was really satisfied and recommend the hotel.
