Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest with you – the Abalon Hotel Ideal isn’t going to blow your mind, but it’s actually a pretty solid choice if you know what you’re getting into. Tucked away on Zimmermannstr in Stuttgart-Mitte, it’s one of those 3-star places that does the basics well without any pretense. The location is what really makes it work, honestly. You’re right in the heart of things, which means you can walk to Königstraße (Stuttgart’s main shopping drag) in about ten minutes, and the Staatsoper is practically around the corner if you’re into that sort of thing.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being so central – I mean, you’d expect more street noise on Zimmermannstr, but somehow the rooms facing the courtyard are surprisingly peaceful. The front desk staff actually seem to know the city, which is rarer than you’d think. They pointed me toward this little bakery on Eberhardstraße that I never would’ve found otherwise, and gave me the real scoop on parking (spoiler: don’t even try to park on the street during the day, there’s a garage two blocks over that’s way less frustrating). The rooms themselves are… well, they’re clean and functional. Nothing fancy, but the beds are decent and the bathrooms work properly, which honestly puts it ahead of some pricier places I’ve stayed in the area.
You know what struck me most? It feels like a hotel that locals might actually recommend to visiting relatives – not flashy, but reliable. The breakfast setup is pretty standard continental fare, though they do have proper German bread which makes a difference. I’d probably stay here again, especially during Cannstatter Volksfest season when everything else gets ridiculously expensive and booked solid. The 7.6 rating feels about right – it’s not perfect, but it delivers on what it promises without any nasty surprises. If you’re the type who spends most of your time exploring the city anyway and just needs a clean, central place to crash, this place gets the job done without breaking the bank.

Reviews
I can’t recommend this hotel – Max from Sweden – July 29, 2025 (7/10)
We had booked a family room which was big enough, clean and tidy.
What could be improved: The room was very hot when we arrived, obviously the sun had been heating it up all afternoon and there is no proper ventilation. We wanted to sleep with the windows open but the neighbours across were having a party so we had to use the fans instead. The bathroom was crammed and impractical. The location was not as close to the central station as I thought, and not really close to anything.Good stay overall – Congying from Germany – July 9, 2025 (8/10)
Location, easy to contact, good price quality ratio, able to stay with friend group in the family room
What could be improved: The card did not really work somehow and we were locked out during the night, good that the reception left the phone number and we got a back up solution with the physical key. No AC.Wonderful – Keyan1904 from United States – June 1, 2025 (9/10)
Great price and great location
What could be improved: I couldn't connect or locate the wifiGood value stay, with good access to public transport to city centre and airport – Aidan from United Kingdom – May 30, 2025 (9/10)
Large, comfortable room, with good sized shower. Five minutes walk from a U-bahn stop, on the line between the airport and the city centre (although it does require one to walk up/down a long flight of stairs). 20min walk from city centre. Good breakfast.
What could be improved: Reception closes at 10pm, so if arriving later one has to either call a 'partner hotel' to be let in/use a door code, and then collect the key from a coded locker. Breakfast room seems to have a limited supply of large spoons, and the hot buffet sometimes ran out, with a 10min wait for more supplies.Very nice place – Djeni from Bulgaria – May 11, 2025 (7/10)
The location is perfect, clean and cosy.
What could be improved: No air conditioning.Good – Filip from Netherlands – May 4, 2025 (7/10)
The accommodation at Hotel Abalon was adequate; fortunately, it wasn’t too warm, as the room didn’t have air conditioning. The bathroom, made entirely of frosted glass, offered little privacy. The location is excellent, right in the city center with everything within walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: What we didn’t like about the accommodation was the lack of air conditioning and the limited privacy due to the fully frosted glass bathroom.simple and easy! there is a GREAT JAPANESE restaurant 3 min walking from the hotel – Joaobola from Switzerland – April 28, 2025 (8/10)
Breakfast was OK, nothing to go crazy about.
What could be improved: I could have the possibility to use a microwave in the kitchen for the night or something (heating the baby milk)Very Good – Kris from Belgium – April 12, 2025 (8/10)
Spacious, modern room
Good for the price, good for a short stay – Hyewon from Germany – March 25, 2025 (8/10)
Bed was comfortable, and there was a porch which was nice. It was minimal but had everything we needed. Location is not bad – a few minute walk from the main area of Stuttgart.
What could be improved: A bit of construction noise in the morningWonderful – Nathaniel from United Kingdom – March 18, 2025 (9/10)
